Mt. Mitchell, NC

I understand all of the repeater owners with equipment on Mt. Mitchell have been given notice to
'remove it all' by July 31! Apparently the owners of WMIT, Blue Ridge Broadcasting, also owned by the Graham family have made this decision. Very odd indeed. I have a feeling the relatively new GM made this decision, and the Grahams have no knowledge at this time. More to come, I'm sure!

Last saturday night on the 6600' net on 145.19, Ken W4BVW, one of the owners of the famous monster on the mountain, told everyone that all the repeaters must be removed from Mt. Mitchell by the end of July. No word as to what was going to be done but Ken said he was working on it.....KD4RNC

KD4RNC- hope to see you at Asheville 'fest next month. It is sad about the repeaters but who knows- might be a plan B also!

You must be "Brother Bill" or Eric. Yeah, I'm going if gas isn't $5.00/gal. I'm deciding on Shelby. According to Tojo's odometer last year, the new location was 200 miles from my home in the big G'ville. Field Day is coming up and thats going to be fun, barbecue chicken! There's a buddy at work who thinks ham radio is cb when I told him about Field Day. He laughingly reffered to us as "Geek Squad. I told him one of our guys was 6'6' 300 lbs and a Greeneville Police captain, a member of CAP and assistant EMA director, call him Geek Squad. I hope the 5.19 machine can see a pardon. I like to talk "skip" on that one. It's beginning to sound like a family estate dispute. Remember whats best for the kids.-73 KD4RNC
