Mt. Wilson Fire

Looks like things are getting quite smokey up on Mt. Wilson. This could really devastate the LA Radio/TV market.

Special Factual Report from Los Angeles:

1) How is this relevant to Dallas or is there nothing to talk about here?

2) Not true on radio. Almost every major FM station with the exception of a handful have backup transmitters for this reason.

3) Cable/satellite penetration is over 90% in the Los Angeles DMA so there will be only minor interruption to TV service

4) We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming.

Yes, I forgot that the hot topic of the day in Fort Worth/Dallas is Jasmine vs. Monkey...

I think the Mt. Wilson thing is relevant. What if we had a natural disaster at Cedar Hill, as in tornado? They do have a nasty habit of going to that part of the metroplex.

How many stations there have a backup somewhere besides Cedar Hill? I'd say not many. Maybe on another tower at the farm but that wouldn't be much help if the antenna farm took a direct hit.

Russ Martin probably believe's his s**t don't stink. ;D Btw Where's Greggo? ;) Seriously, the original post was fine it was about radio. I have seen posts about other cities on here before. I don't see any need for anyone to get bent out shape over a post not directly related to DFW.
