MTV Radio rolling out Latino TRL

MTV Radio Rolling out Latino TRL
September 19, 2005
By Katy Bachman

Targeting the growing young Latino audience, MTV Radio Network, distributed by Westwood One, announced Monday MTV’s first Latin American radio production. Beginning the weekend of Oct. 22, the radio network plans to launch a two-hour Latino version of the network’s popular Total Request Live Weekend Countdown radio program.

The new TRL franchise will be hosted by MTV’s Suzie Castillo. Content, presented in both English and Spanish languages, will have strong cross-over appeal as it counts down the top Latino and Anglo hits along with interviews and entertainment. The network plans to promote the new Latino TRL franchise via cross promotion through Viacom’s cable and web platforms.

“With the launch of TRL Latino, Westwood One is now able to offer both advertisers and affiliates highly targeted shows to the Pop, Urban and how Spanish-speaking and bilingual listeners,” said Peter Kosann, co-COO for Westwood.

The MTV Radio Network is broadcast on more than 185 radio stations.
