I'll admit, the AAR-WHLD thread was enticing and juicy and we all gnawed on it like a pack of wolves. But when it was revealed that AAR "made a mistake," it appeared we (for the most part) was bamboozled. Or was we?

It's my guess that AAR jumped the gun and someone at Citadel wasn't exactly ready for this. I'd bet that WHLD will end up using AAR early in 2006 to fill in the "non brokered" hours. Makes sense to me.
How can an organization like AAR bungle an announcement, then backtrack and call it an error? (Bad question, considering AAR's history of ineptitude.) That is, unless it really is not an actual error? As much as WHLD will not be a turnkey, full-fledged AAR affiliate, Pickle's suggestion that AAR may air in non-brokered hours has some merit. It certainly beats the hodge-podge of oldies that fills some hours. As Pickle suggests, it's likely the WHLD-AAR announcement was to come from Citadel at a time of their choosing rather than AAR, which announced it prematurely.
Given the tit-for-tat potshots each group has taken at each other (Wild to counter Kiss, oldies KB to counter WHTT, the Lake to counter 97 Rock, Jack to counter Star) it wouldn't surprise too many people if this move occurs early next year if for no other reason than to be a (small) thorn in WBEN's assets.
What's next, WBBF goes all-sports-all-day to counter WGR? Hasn't that been suggested here?
