Mulrooney Gone From WPDH Morning Show

I noticed this today on Poughkeepsie Journal's web site from Tuesday. John Mulrooney has been let go from WPDH. I stopped listening to the yuck fest years ago, because Coop drove me nuts, so I can't really comment. However, I don't see this as a plus. Cumulus manager Chuck Bortnick said it was a business deal to no longer do a four-person show (including sidekicks Kricket & Deuce). In other words, they just want to save money.

You may be right... it probably doesn't make much economic sense these days to have a four-person morning show in Poughkeepsie, New York, as opposed to, say, New York City...

I gotta believe this is just the first shoe to drop. The PDH morning show went down the toilet when Tobin left. Knocking one salary off the top isn't going to save this Titanic disaster. Cooper has no business on the radio. The novelty of listening to his show because you didn't want to miss the live on-air coronary wore off a long time ago. IMHO it's only a matter of time before Cumulus dumps him.

Syndication of WPDH's current morning show, or WPDH dumping their current morning show for a syndicated one?

I didn't think I would need to clarify that on the grounds that no one in their right mind would run WPDH's current morning show in syndication.

Sad but true. Nobody who's heard Cooper on the air doing his sloppy excuse for a morning show would ever think it's syndication material.
