Multicasting or HD2 for Cars

Any idea when these "updated" radios will be available to the general public to replace the 1st generation ones currently available? I actually enjoy the sound quality and look forward to more in-car listening options.

They are out now. I have had one for a couple of months, available from Crutchfield and Cardomain.com amongst others.

I dont know of any 1st generation models available anymore, except from EBay.

The only factory-equipped IBOC car radio which exists today -- in BMW's top-of-the-line 7-series luxury sedans -- still has no support for multicasting/HD2.

JVC's new model is coming out approx 3/27/06.

Crutchfield says it's out but out of stock. I guess every radio station is buying one as a monitor. The release date on their web site was 2/6/06.

Seriously Rich...be fair here.

Most radio stations are buying Day-Sequerra, Belar, or Audimat-Aztec's as monitors. Why buy the Kenwood when you can get the Day-Sequerra for a little more money?
______________

Hmm. The last station I visited had a Kenwood car receiver with the tuner as its monitor. I talk to many stations in the course of a week. Most are similarly equipped.

Then they were early adopters. Early on, the Kenwood was popular because it was the only option. That is no longer the case.
______________
