Anyone willing to share their experiences with Multicasting? I'm hoping to have an HD-2 on in a few months (using Harris stuff) and am looking for some experiences ya'll have had out there...

I've had my main HD channel up for a year now, and have been very pleased. We had a few problems with our Dexstar, but other than that, it's been good overall.

We experimented with different processing units, and ultimately landed with an 8500, which has been great.

I'm also using TRE software from AudioVAULT and would like to hear feedback from others about that.

I'm sure some people would love to give feedback, but I'm afraid we'd be threadjacked pretty quickly!

I had a couple of HD2s set up using NexGen. The transmitters were 2 BEs and 2 new Continental 316HDs.

Make sure you have plenty of bandwidth on your STL! Version 2 sends out UDP and likes to flood the STL path back to the studios. Be prepared to firewall that off, or have a router to control the flooding. I had version 1 working just fine.

Processing is everything! And is quite different than analog processing. Process GENTLY!!! Else you will sound just like analog. I was using Omnia 6EXs for HD2, and liked the "Clean and Smooth" setting. It was not as loud as the analog or HD1, but I found that OK as there is NO noise in the background. It gives you a lot of headroom.

have fun!
