Multicultural Surrenders San Francisco Translator After Interference Complaints

The FCC allowing AM stations to rebroadcast on FM frequencies already in use was a terrible idea. Another such scenario is/was 93.7 KXZM/K229CD but K229CD has been off the air for a while. Right now, I can hear both 95.3 KRTY and K237GZ, which rebroadcasts 1220 KDOW.

Another bad idea is allowing multiple LPFM stations on one frequency or allowing them to broadcast on frequencies already in use. On 96.9, I can pick up at least 3 LPFM stations depending on antenna orientation. 95.3, 96.1, 101.7 and 102.5 have established stations already but the FCC allowed LPFM or translator stations to broadcast on top of them. 99.3 has at least 1 AM rebroadcast and LPFM of equal strength.

The only FM translator that doesn't seem to cause harmful interference seems to be 92.9 K225CK which rebroadcasts 1310 KMKY and still on the air today.

This just makes the FM band even less listenable and even worse in a car since you can't adjust most car antennas.

I can't speak for your location, but in San Mateo/Belmont, K225CK sounds like they are heavily overmodulated. They are much louder than any other station and distorted as well.
