Mumbles Menino: Talk-show host?

As a guest, fine. As a host, I have difficulty imagining that. Actually, I don't think he needs a job. I'm sure he could retire.

WRKO did used to have Ray Flynn after he was mayor.

Yesterday Howie Carr mentioned that Peter Lucas was told by Mayor White that he would run again; White was not nec. a fan of Lucas but he told him. And: (WBUR):"The front page of the next morning’s Herald blared: “White Will Run.” Later that day, when local TV stations went live to the mayor for his much-anticipated announcement, White announced he wasn’t running. In the Herald newsroom, reporters saw Lucas turn gunmetal gray. He walked to his typewriter and banged out his letter of resignation."

(The publisher said, "Forget it, this is great for circulation.")

That would be must hear radio for the sheer comedy of it. Whether intentional or not ;D

I suspect today (March 28th), Howie Carr will claim on his show that Mayor Tom Menino can't get hired by WRKO-680 because he is "not a convicted felon".

(If you're a longtime listener to Carr, you'll get that joke for you probably know that several WRKO talk hosts over the year had pleaded guilty to several corruption charges)

"Welcomebacktothemumblessportshour, Mayor Tom heah. Let's go to the next callah. Callah, you there?"

"Hey, Mr. Mayor, who's your favorite Patriot? I'll hang up and listen."

"Favorite Pahtriat? I like that Wilcock guy. Wear his jersey all the time."

(brief pause)

"Love the tight end, too. Next callah, you there?"

"Hey, Mister Mayah, it's Eddie in Dorchestah. What do you remember most about Supah Bowl Ex-Ex-Ex-Vee-Eye?"

"Varitek! He split the uprights!"

The guy will need a job in several months, and I'm sure WRKO will have an opening on the schedule.

The guy is 70 years old I believe, why does he need a job? He may want a job (or not), but I would think the City of Boston has a decent pension plan.

The title of this thread is the best April Fool's joke I've read all week.
