MundoFox has officially launched

I expected issues on Phoenix's KEJR-LD at the soft launch on 8/1, but figured the bugs would be worked out by formal launch today. Briefly tuned in this afternoon to see a show with horrible quality, with jerky motion one would expect from a homemade internet video. Fail.

Checked out KWHY 22 in Los Angeles and sure enough, it was on the air! In HD too for DIRECTV customers.
They have a full 24/7 network schedule going. I was surprised with the amount of programming they were providing being that I thought it was going to be more like a syndication service like MyNet.

Very soon [or if not, now], KUNS/51 owned by Fisher will have MundoFox on 51.2.

On the air in Little Rock AR via 800 watt D-LPTV KLRA-LP 16 (aka 'KMYA-LP 47-1') on one of the old Equity Broadcasting stations (and it seems all the former stations owned by Pinnacle Media/LR Mortgage seem to have all the old EB gang behind the scenes).

In Houston-One of the Top 10 cities with a large Hispanic market-is pretty much shunned away. And its own affiliate, KUVM-TV 34 is not yet available on Comcast, which is our city's largest cabler. It also makes me wonder why is MundoFOX is a broadcast network, but not a cable channel. I think FOX needs to wake up, and put this channel on its own subchannels. I think it should belong on either channel 26.2 (KRIV) or 20.2 (KTXH). I think this is going to be an Epic Fail for FOX, on Three Counts for MundoFOX; 1-For not letting its O&O stations to become MundoFOX affiliates, 2-Trying to get a rush quickly for new stations to join MundoFOX, 3-Univision is STILL America's most dominant Hispanic TV Network, Broadcast or Cable.

It is also on the low power WFXZ-CD, Boston in 720P. They are identifying as:

MundoFox 8 Hammonton-Philadelphia / MundoFox 24 Boston

This is on 24-1, which was previously Azteca America, which has been moved to 24-2 in SD. 24-3 and 24-4 are SD infomercials as before.

Apparently Verizon Fios in NYC was going to start carrying the station (WPXO) (and it's subchannel, another spanish network) yesterday. Still nothing yet. For the rest of NYC, Cablevision did add it, and apparently Time Warner Cable hasn't added it yet either.

in Chicago, it's on WOCK-CD 13.1, but on a station that is difficult for most people to get with most antennas (impossible with rabbit ears). Except for cable systems that have WOCK-CD's main channel available, it won't do well in Chicago, due to the network affiliating with a station that broadcasts at only 300 watts on channel 4 (mapped to 13.X), & requires an outdoor antenna optimized for VHF-Lo (channels 2-6), along with a pre-amplifier. I barely get the station in Gary, IN with my Antennacraft CS600 VHF antenna & RCA TVPRAMP1R pre-amplifier. Without the pre-amp, I don't get the station at all. I mainly got the antenna for WOCK-CD's subchannel 13.4 (America One).

That, plus the fact that low-VHF is suspectible to interference, which is why 2 to 6 was found to be unfavorable for digital broadcasting.

And that will be the problem with MundoFox. It's on a low power station, rather than running it on a subchannel of WFXT, the Fox O&O in Boston where it would be more likely to be seen and picked up by Comcast. I don't get this strategy at all. I'm out in the 'burbs (about 25 miles west) - there's almost no shot of getting WFXZ-CD in with an antenna but I get WFXT loud and clear.

Fox in their infinite wisdom doesnt want any subchannels on their O&O stations unless they own the My in the market and then they cross promote it. Here in Minneapolis they do that due to Fox being back on the analog spot (9) and folks having issues. They put a SD version of Fox 9 on a subchannel of the My affiliate (29) so when you scan it shows like this
9-1 KMSP 9 HD (RF9)
9-2 KMSP 9 SD (RF29)
29-1 WFTC 29 My HD (RF29)
29-2 WFTC 29 My SD (RF9)

And yet in New York WWOR 9-3 is airing Bounce TV.

Also, in DC WDCA 20-2 is supposed to carry Mundofox.

In addition, Fox's O&Os were also slated to offer the .2 Network, which is practically dead in the water.

neither of those are Fox affiliates rather My affiliates. Maybe they'll add MundoFox to WFTC then :)
