Mundofox

I'm on Vacation here in Guatemala C.A and was flipping through channels and noticed they have MUNDOFOX here.

As you remember FOX sold their share of ownership here in the USA and it became MUNDOMAX. Which also shut down, here in GUATEMALA the same shows are being run such as 100 LATINOS DIJERON.

Would it be wise for FOX to try again and take a different approach of this channel?

MundoFox remained as a cable channel in the Latin American market.

Fox made a series of mistakes, the last and greatest of which was deciding to sell to RCN. MundoFox at least registered on the radar with Fox as a stakeholder. However, they made some bad programming decisions, and they weren't getting enough out to stay in.

I can't believe MundoFOX still exists here in Latin America. It's been repeating the same programming since its launch in 2013 and worse, it replaced the Argentinian women-oriented channel Utilísima which had a large following among Argentinian women.

What could had been done different to have helped keep this station alive?

In a word, nothing.

They tried to compete with two very established providers that had tied up most of the program sources and talent. They threw a lot of money at the project, but got no traction, ever.

But what about all the other stations like Azteca América? Estrella Tv? They could had at least tried to be ahead of them.

Azteca has all the library and current production of the Mexican operation which is second only to Televisa. Estrella operates as a bottom-feeder, using cheap productions such as music based and reality type shows that are done in the US but at low, low cost and they go after limited budgets. Both are entrenched and have decent, ongoing programming operations.

Mundo Fox had not established partner operation nor a history (and library) of programming "in the can". And no ratings to sell.

Just like David says, MundoFOX was born without a chance to survive.
Its last remains, the Latin American cable channel (which still repeats 100 Latinos Dicen from the American MundoFOX) will convert to NatGeo Kids on the 1st July.
