Murph's leaving "One Bills Live" but not the Bills

A bit more detail, and a playback of Murph's leave-taking is available here:

The Buffalo News article said that Murphy's contract for One Bills Live ends next month. Murphy indicated that the decision to leave the show was “sort of a mutual one”. Murphy indicated that they "wanted to take the show in a different direction." Chris Brown and Maddy Glab will join Steve Tasker on the show.

Murphy also said he's "open to other job possibilities", but it sounds like he's tired of the 5 days a week 3 hours a day grind, especially during the off season. Let's hope he's a frequent guest.

I sure hope it's not going to turn into more "Schopp and the Bulldog" Bro-sports fantasy league blather. Murphy was the primary legitimate sportscaster on the station. The show has been the only real sports show on the station. The rest are "sports themed", but wander far away from actual sports talk.

Stars aligned. Murphy had his fill of the daily grind, especially the off season, and Entercom is doing everything possible to cut expenses. Each party benefits, perhaps even the Bills, if the team contributed to Murphy's WGR salary. Whether this benefit filters down to the listener remains to be heard. Brown is a Bills employee and reports for the Buffalo Bills website. He has a reputation for being a fact-based reporter long before joining the Bills organization. Not one for histrionics and gimmickry, he does however understand the entertainment requirements of sports-talk radio. The benefit of the doubt at this writing leans to the 'new' show being more in line with the existing product.
