Dan Murphy, late of WTEN TV, is going to host a local show on Clear Channel’s WOFX. This will replace the dreadful afternoon drive program from FoxSports radio.

Tobin & Coleman was a good local afternoon-drive show on WOFX, driven by John Tobin’s comic talent, and Freddie Coleman’s sports knowledge. It was widely speculated that Clear Channel was unhappy with the numbers, but the show collapsed when Coleman went to work for ESPN-Radio. Ol’ Dan can have some pretty strong opinions. His 'Murphy’s Law' segment was popular on TV, and will be added to WGY’s morning show. But is it enough to maintain a local show?
ESPN Radio has a mish-mash program in the afternoon. As for 'ROW, any intelligent listener can only take so much Mike & the Maddog (Inflated opinions, huge egos, and total inability to let a caller finish a sentence before they step on them) before they drive their car in to a bridge pillar. If Murphy can make local sports interesting (Rats, Cats, Pats, UA, Siena, RPI & Union plus some HS stuff) without doing a repeat of Roger Wyland's morning show, the entire scene can benefit from the exposure and the base knowledge.
This is a ballsy move from Clear Channel. It goes against their normal operation. I hope they give it a shot. If it stumbles out of the gate I pray they'll adjust it instead of pulling the plug and forcing sports fans to listen to what we have now.
The games begin November 7th from 3-5pm. Good Luck Dan!
