Music @ 106.1 KMEL

What in the HECK is wrong with Clear Channel that they are not monitoring KMEL which is a heritage sation in the BAY? I hear back to back to back slow tempo songs in AM Drive, and worst of all, I keep hearing TRAIN WRECKS in ALL dayparts. Moreover, they seem to be trying to get behind the wrong songs-no true music ears there.
I'll admit, my style is more KBLX and KISS and those folks don't seem to have the same music problem. BUT, KMEL's music has never sounded worse. At night, I hear the young guy, Vaughn, playing what are obviously his favorite obscure rap album cuts back to back to back, in the mix AND in his countdown. I know that he is the APD/MD there, but can't somebody (Michael Martin) listen to the station and hear how horrible it has been sounding? I have seen their numbers in the last couple of books, so maybe that is why no one with any sense cares. The listeners and the pros care. Does that matter? Shouldn't it matter? Or is KMEL just going to let Wild come back strong (now that Jim Archer is back) and beat them at their own game?

KMEL is #1 18-34 by a resounding margin in all dayparts. Big Von's show 9without actually posting the ratings) mroe than DOUBLES the #2's ratings. You are not in tune with what most listeners want obviously, cuz they must be doing SOMETHING right.
Edited by cubase on 04/07/06 07:39 PM.

>Cubase is right I'll admit I hear the elements over words a lot REAL sloppy, but as for the music ALL the kids want is the "Hyphy Movement" which are not obscure album cuts but really BIG records on the streets. Think about thier listener, it is more a laid back cool vibe, as long as they sound cool they will continute to do well. Thier listener is not concerned about jocks hitting posts or tempo as much ms much as somewhere like KYLD where it would stand out more.
