Music Choice Dance Channel Picks Up where XM's BPM Left Off

BPM has recently dropped a lot of the international product it was playing in favor of a sound that relies heavily on NYC House. But the Dance channel on Music Choice is sounding very good despite being a jukebox, playing the recent Basement Jaxx, Freemasons plus some 90s tracks I don't remember them playing before.

Update: right now they're playing the former BPM staple Kreo "Burn for You"!!
Edited by saladdressing on 12/23/05 11:05 PM.

Great track.

I realize that nobody will be perfectly happy all the time...but I don't understand what the heck is going on with BPM. In 2001/2002, they were AMAZING. The sound quality was actually on par with CD, the music flowed beautifully, there was NEVER a dull track. It made you want to keep listening...and this was when there were only car units. After that it went into a lot of unrecognizable house tracks and a clusterfutz of a playlist...like someone dumped 3500 tracks in and pushed 'random'. Music isn't THAT bad as of the last month or so, but the backspins are annoying the hell out of me. Just within the last week or two there's a backspin everytime I get in the car.

To the BPM PD: if I wanted dull house, I'd be on XM80. If I wanted unrecognizable hardcore tracks I'd be on XM82. I want what you gave me when I first signed up many moons ago: a US dance radio station. Ian Van Dahl, Pulse 81, Madonna, 4 Strings, Linus Loves and Sam Obernik, Stellar Project, Red Carpet, Aaron Smith, Milky, Uniting Nations, Georgie Porgie, DT8 Project and Andrea Britton, Deepdish, Bodyrockers, Chicane, Mylo, Global Deejays, Daft Punk, Groove Armada, Reflekt, Thrillseekers, Eric Prydz, Tiesto, Anna Vissi, Rachel Panay, Sin Plomo, Kay Cee, Aubrey, Narcotic Thrust, Divine Inspiration, Suzanne Palmer, Tina Ann, Simply Red, PvD, iio, Fragma, Ferry Corsten, Angel City, ATB, Bob Sinclair, Darude, Deepest Blue, Amber, KMC/Benassi, Flexy, Foggy.

You want backspins? Moby, Haddaway, 2 Bad Mice, Black Box, Captain Hollywood Project, CeCe Peniston, CJ Bolland, Daft Punk, Everything But The Girl, Fluke, Freestyle 2000, Future Sound of London, Hampenberg, Ice MC, INOJ, Josh Wink, JS16, La Bouche, Orbital, Real McCoy, Rockell, Utah Saints, Vengaboys.

That's just going down my current playlist. You need the tunes? I'll send you a few DVDs packed with stuff you're missing and risk getting sued into oblivation.

I'm not a big fan of the mixshows, either. Our very own Dalton needs to be on BPM because the show uses brand new tracks with currents and recurrents sprinkled in, it's uplifting, and it makes you feel anxious when you're sitting down listening...like you want to get up and get on the dance floor...like a good dance station should.
______________

The new BPM sucks so hard I'm contemplating dropping XM. It was one of the only reasons I've held on to a subscription this long. That, and NGoma - African music. Oh yeah, did i mention, they dropped NGoma last month for Canadian content. B L A H

XM SUCKS. period. I was a long time Sirius subsciber for almost 3 years.. then was forced to get XM with my new car.

XM SUCKS. BPM is still just a tad bit better than the Beat (IMO).. but the other dance channels are awful... Even all of their other channels on XM suck. Kiss Top 40 is LAME. Their Country stations suck. Everything about XM sucks. Dont even get me started on the Rap Channels. It shows you what type of people are running the scenes over there. Rap is meant to be Rated R... but the jocks talk like rated XXX... some dirty ass (BLEEP) on there by their jocks.

XM sound quality is also awful. Since having XM installed for almost a month.. I have prob. turned it on 3 times (if that) in the last 3 weeks (and that was to listen to Fox News). I will be going back to Sirius whenever I can find the time to take my car over to the dealership and have them rip this piece of (BLEEP) Delphi crap out of my car and then toss it off a 60 story building.

You listen to FOX NEWS!!!?...............Yuck. :), Merry Christmas Everyone!

Haha, I was gonna say the same thing. Sorry Russ, you're cool as f*ck buddy, but Fox News is usually not where I got my news. LOL, I prefer Al-Jazeera...the news is much more fair and balanced there (Shyeah right, LOL).

I was trying to be constructive. Saying they suck without offering a suggestion isn't constructive criticism.
______________

I was trying to be constructive. Saying they suck without

offering a suggestion isn't constructive criticism.

why should i worry about constructive criticism when it cost
me a shitload of money to have their service installed in my
car?

theeeeeen... i have to pay to get their crap service yanked
out of my car... then, i have to pay for a new sirius radio
receiver... then i have to pay for someone to install sirius
into my car.... then i have to pay for XM and Sirius BOTH
for a month.... Im all about constructive criticism.. but
this is getting stupid. Im at the point where HD for free
is a better value then any sat radio.

Im sorry but their service is nowhere near the same level as Sirius... I guess thats where I was trying to get with this post.

OH RUSS..LOL

I wouldnt really call your station a low Budget one. I mean, I couldnt afford to run 45 high quality streams, I dont think most people could do it on their own. Besides that, Im very picky about net stations, but I have always loved yours, even back when it was only one channel. In fact, I am currently sucking bandwidth off of your 931 THE BEAT channel, as I type this. I listen to the beat, and I love that Proggressive Channel you have.

Re: XM Is Boring Radio most of the time

Problem with alot of the XM channels especially ones that get no budget like BPM is their boring. BPM added a "Few" more sweepers but its still a jukebox. The sweepers aren't very good either. The playlist is so so. They play the wrong remixes of certain songs too. Like Mariah Careys. They play the worst possible remix you could play. The mixshows are bland most of the time, and they even cut down on those to just Friday and Saturday nights only. Don't get me started on the Sound Quality. The SQ varies from song to song on BPM. Going from OK to Tiny and very metallaic. When I have Sirius playing, the SQ is even & Bright more comparable to FM.

I already cancelled 2 subs this year. I'm just going to listen to BPM over Directv for Free. Until gets better, I won't give XM radio any of my money anymore.

Why does this always have to be 1) a circle jerk for someone or 2) bashing with no suggestions?
______________

Ross...

My opinion is that I wouldn't bother paying for satellite radio.

I don't have a car, AND I have a high-speed internet connection, which means I can listen all I want to the high-bandwidth streams of internet radio...including 1Club.FM!!

Now, the ONLY thing left is for the Internet to become truly mobile. Once THAT happens, I don't know if hardly ANYONE will listen to terrestrial radio, let alone satellite radio!! :)
