music Cumulus is actually ahead on

I'm listening to KBEA right now and they're playing Rihanna's new song Stay, haven't heard this on any other station. I think when Take It Off was new, I first heard that on a Cumulus station as well. Can anyone else think of any other songs that Cumulus has actually been ahead of everyone else on?

Touch by Natasha Bedingfield.
Warwick Avenue by Duffy.
Hall of Fame by the Script. Q100 even out it in power rotation while the song was at no23 on CHR.
Anything from Rob Thomas and Matchbox Twenty.

Cumulus will add songs by core established artists whenever they drop. Rihanna has been around long enough and has tested well enough she probably falls into that category. For new artists, they wait until its in the top 10. Their entire philosophy is "play it safe." Basically, they run their CHRs and rhythmic CHRs like a Hot AC.

If Stay does it well enough, they will probably be playing it at least once every three hours in 2017.

Yeah, the only way Cumulus will add early is if the song is by an artist who is well-established with Cumulus stations - sometimes, like with "Hall Of Fame", they turn out to be right, but other times, like "She's So Mean," it turns out to be a waste of an add

It's also important to note that some Cumulus stations can choose not to add a song that Jeffries approved. For example, my Cumulus station, WNTQ, never added "She's So Mean", which turned out to be a good decision since the song didn't do much, and only just added "Hall Of Fame" a few weeks ago.

I remember Cumulus added "Home" back in the summer when it was still in the mid-40s. That song would eventually go top 10.
