Peter Conlon sent out a press release stating that Music Midtown (sponsored heavily by V-103, Z93, 96rock and 99X over the years with Kicks coming in last year) in its current incarnation is over. No surprise given that the festival has been losing money the past three years despite various efforts to jumpstart it, including a push towards country and hip-hop in recent years. Ironically, when the festival was at its most financially vibrant, with 100K packed in, it was often so unpleasant for many attendees, they didn't come back. I'd say it was more comfortable for the 60K or so who DID go each day last year than in 2001 with 50% more people. But at 60K people a day, it didn't make financial sense. Also, Alex Cooley, the heart and soul of Music Midtown, was ousted from the company a year ago.
