Music Midtown Vs. VibeMusic Fest

Does anyone know how well tickets are selling for these two mega events going on next weekend? I think Music Midtown has a better list of performers, but VibeMusic Fest has the natioanl exposure. I know people from all 5 boardering states that are going to go to the VibeMusic Fest simply because all of the urban stations in their area are promoting it.

Let's just hope ATL can support both events next weekend. Does anyone remember NBA All Star Weekend??? Uuummm...yeah...it took me 3 hours to go from Downtown to Vinings (normally a 9 min. drive) Let's hope it's not like that!!
______________

I wonder if the price increase for Music Midtown for the three day pass may turn people off. Both events are located near MARTA stations, so people from out of town can park there and ride the train, but we all know how that will go over....
______________

They both cater to entirely different demographics so comparing ticket sales wouldn't be an accurate measure, but I can't imagine how packed it will be and with such national people coming in for the VibeMusic Fest... Security is going to be raised beyond most people's comfort zone.
______________

I know that HOT 107.9 is promoting Music Midtown like crazy since they finally have a stage and Jermaine Dupri is producing it. This weekend they are giving away free tickets for the show. Across the street V103 and 97.1 JAMZ are promoting the Vibe Music Fest and also giving away free tickets this weekend. Next weekend this city will be pack of hip-hop and R&B artist and I can just imagine the nightclub prices are going to be off the hook. Traffic on Peachtree Street from Downtown to Buckhead will be horrible so be prepared!

I'm curious to see how all this works out as well. I'm not much of a hiphop fan so I don't know who is at VibeMusic. MM seems to have some interesting urban type stuff, but it appears to be older acts (I might go watch Biz Markie for a laugh). I doubt there is any act at Vibe I would find more interesting than MM's Black Eyed Peas (maybe M.I.A.) , but again... not into that stuff much.

I think this year's MM lineup is the best since the first couple of years. They definitely took that higher ticket price and did something with it. I've always thought MM was a good deal and don't really mind paying more. Can't wait to see Devo!

So, in other words, the true counts we get from Vibe and from Clear Channel will include the paper handouts(freebies) included as actual sales for the events?

On another topic, if the recent performance of our illustrious APD is any indication, gridlock is going to be the key word of the weekend. especially downtown because all weekend along with the Vibe event, the Braves are playing a home series with Oakland. I would NOT want to be a traffic reporter that weekend....
______________

None of the above.

Never really though much of the Vibe Music Fest to begin with, so hip-hop-hooray to that.

Music Midtown has one of the weakest lineups in history this year. C'mon, where's your Mudvayne? Where's your Killswitch Engage? Slipknot? System of a Down? Shadows Fall? They want to charge seventy-five dollars for three days of a bunch of happy rock? Please!

The Beale Street Music Festival in Memphis, Tennessee was where it was at this year.

LOL, this is where you and I STRONGLY disagree. Make that word "STRONGLY" bold faced-type with a 72 font. You couldn't pay me the $75 ticket fee to sit through one of those bands. My God, the testosterone would be dripping out of my WIFE's underarms. Give me "happy fun" rock over that teenage pablum.
