Music on AM: Best way to format?

Is there a method that anyone here could recommend to make a stereo music track better suited for playback over AM? Our facilities here are geared towards a talk format so our processing is set up as such. Is there something I can do with Adobe Audition to tweak the music tracks and make them sound a little more at home on the air?

One tip: If you're producing stuff that will air exclusively on a mono AM station, make sure all your stuff is mixed down to mono before importing into your station's playback system so there are no surprises -- like some of your source material being out of phase.

Lots of stuff sounds great in stereo but loses its punch when played back in mono.
