Music on AM

If an AM station switched to oldies, you think that would work? Can you see an AM get away with playing music? Even if its oldies? 50s,60s,early 70s?

Radio Disney has mostly AM stations and they play music. WMTR/WWTR plays oldies on AM, and snagged a few listeners from the station that just got Jacked.
______________

The BOTTOM LINE IS THIS: If you give people a reason to listen to something they are ONLY going to find on AM, THEY WILL!!

So The Answer is YES!!

Re: Music on AM...CAN Work and DOES!

WMTR came in 3rd in the 12+ Spring Morristown ratings, the top AM station beating all the talkers, not a bad showing for an AM music station!

There's plenty of opportunity on AM as well as FM for Oldies AND Country. Just needs to be marketed right!

Power stations WWKB/1540/Buffalo and Am 740 CHWO/Toronto have that format. Ratings at KB have been disapointing.

Well "Presentation" certainly has A LOT to do with the success. Also doing quite a bit on "LIVE" appearances and remotes also seems to do wonders. It can never hurt just to get some publicity going. I can't tell you how many times I talk to people and we get on a topic of music & radio and someone says to me "WOW! How long has that station been around!?" That to me is a HUGE No/No on the Promotions/Marketing Dept at a station.
