MUSIC ON KDWN??????

My impression is that they play music when they are having technical problems with the new studio. Once they get the bugs worked out the music will probably be gone.

It seems they are playing songs from their original music library. The newest song I heard them play was "Sad Eyes" by Robert John which was released just a few months before they switched to talk.

I doubt that Beasley would go to KDWN's actual original library. All the music would have been on cart or vinyl since the CD was not even an option when they made the switch to talk. I doubt that Beasley would really retain all of that music on a bunch of carts; as I also doubt that there is anything more than one cart deck for backup in the studio.

The music played sounded clean (for AM radio) so I'm sure it came from a CD or (probably) hard drive. Why they have the gold AC music available is a good question though.

It's always a good idea to have backup plan in place.

No matter where i've worked or what format it was, there was always a CD in the CD player left on pause so it could be started at a moments notice. There were also some backup songs on the desktop just incase.

It's better to be safe then sorry...

Well since they are at the Beasley studios now, maybe they are just playing music from the old KJUL library. I'm sure that music is still on the hard drives there.

Maybe they are using KJULs old music. But I'm only hearing music that played on KDWN in their music era. For example I heard "Love So Right" by the Bee Gees which was a big song on KDWN that I don't remeber KJUL playing. Also, KJUL used to play some newer songs such as Rod Stewart's cover versions of standards, I haven't heard any of that on KDWN. Maybe they recorded the old KDWN music library on Beasley's hard drive?

I'm actually enjoying the music KDWN plays, I wish we had a station like that 24/7. I love 70s mush like "Laughter in the Rain" but don't care for swagger artists like Harry Connick Jr. that today's standards stations play.

Bingo! I am a PTP Family member, & when there are glitches on air, he goes into "music mode", & tries to correct the problem. I also believe that the music played are leftovers from KDWN's MOR days, as well.
