Music on KKGO-FM HD-4

Stations used to have their main FM signal and an HD-2 channel for older formats. Now it seems some station have both an HD-2 and HD-3 Channel alongside the main FM signal.
An HD-4 could be a move for HD to expand itself and grow, perhaps one of the pros could chime in here?

It's all about the quality. HD has a finite bandwidth, and it can be all given to the analog signal's content, or divided into 2, 3, 4 or more chunks. Each piece can be assigned a certain percentage of the bandwidth. And pieces can also be used for data, such as real time traffic reports. If you divide it too much, some of the pieces start sounding like an AM station....

Listened to Lite FM on 105.1 HD 4 today. They are promoting the website "litefmla.com," but it does not seem to be online.

Audio quality is meh.

LEVINE/SCHWAB PARTNERSHIP have filed for an FM translator in San Fernando on 105.5. Looks like it will carry AM1500 when it goes on the air.

Had hoped it would it would carry KSUR which is listenable due to co-channel interference in most of the valley.

105.5 most likely will not be much better.

Too bad 94.3 is gone, once was KGIL-FM.

Already KBUE has filed a petition to deny due to interference issues. Sooooooo, the application has been amended to lower power to 7 watts. Looks like the antenna will be located at the KROQ site.

The current application is at Mt. Lukens for this FM translator.

I was driving the car with the HD radio today (my newer car, a Toyota, doesn't have it). I was fooling around with the HD and saw 4 channels on 105.1. The main and HD-2 and HD-3 were various forms of country, and the HD-4 was mostly older pop and soul (sort of like what the KTWV currently plays)

Audio quality was a bit worse than Sirius XM. If some station ran all eight HD channels, what would they sound like? Telephone quality? Two-way radio?

I tried a few other stations:
93.1 (Jack FM) had some sort of music format, I forget what it was....
94.7 (KTWV the Wave) played "smooth jazz" (the original KTWV format)
101.1 (KRTH) had KNX news and a music format (not the 50s oldies it used to have)
107.5 (KLVE) had two signals. One in Armenian, the other in (I think) Farsi... (the Korean station is gone)

I didn't get a chance to see if the Mormon format on 100.3 survived the sale to EMF, though....

I just checked - 9a PT on 6/29/18 and the site is live. However, it presently offers no streaming option, and it is bare bones as far as content goes.

That's because, as I said, it's a placeholder site from a web server. There is no content.

If you register a domain, and you get a package that includes hosting, this is what appears until you load your site.
