MUSIC or TALK?

Atlanta,

what do you prefer listening to on the way to work in the mornings?
music or talk?

talk as well... I think rock music is at low point right now.

FYI - Philly's WYSP 94.1 switched from talk to Rock with O&A mornings and Kidd Chris in the afternoons.

Anything comparable in Atlanta (music-wise)?

Talk all the way. And this is coming from someone who owns 2500 CDs and can't fit all the music I want on my 60gb Mp3 player. I love music, but I find stimulating talk more interesting during my commute. I always loved that TRG never played music during their shows.

Radio no longer serves that audience unless you're into straight news like WSB, fluffy news magazine stuff like NPR, or sanctimonious right-wing Rush Limbaugh imitators like Sean Hannity. Boortz is entertaining but not on during drive time. Kimmer was a nice break from straight politics as well.

Well gee, that depends on my mood. My clock radio is set to WSB so the first thing I hear in the morning is the news. In the car in the morning, I usually want to hear music without much talk. The only music stations really offering that are DAVE, B98.5, The River, Project and WJZZ. Kicks does a pretty good job of playing a fair amount of music while still doing a personality morning show so sometimes I listen to them. If I'm in a non-music mood, which happens occasionally, I listen to WABE, WGKA, WSB or sometimes even to Steve Harvey on 102.5.

Definitely talk (WGKA), interrupted by news...in the morning, I feel the need for information, don't want my mind going blank before the workday has started...it's optional on the way home because I've been in front of a computer all day with the ability to check the news periodically.

Generally talk. I listen to mainly Mayhem in the AM, except when they get on the incessant Falcons talk, it gets real old. Sometimes the Bert Show or the New Morning X if its a decent topic. If not, iPod time.

not really... I guess sort of Project without the butt rock. Best comparison would be WBCN/Boston.
