music today

most of today's music is commercial crap. And that is sad.

early rock may not have been Mozart, Ellington or Sinatra ---
but early rock was far more creative than
today's commercial crap.

I think that's a sign of age. I'm guessing you're over 40. I don't find much to like in today's music either (with an occasional exception like Adele), but I imagine there's some great creative work being done that I'm not hearing. If you ever listen to an aircheck of 1960s or 70s Top 40 radio, you'll hear an awful lot of commercial crap that never made it to the Oldies or Classic Hits stations.

Oh, absolutely, especially these creative, sensitive, meaningful lyrics from The Good Old Days:"

"Sh-boom, sh-boom. na na na na na na na" - The Chords
"Ooh eee ooh ha ha...ting tang walla walla bing bang." - David Seville
"Wop babba loola a wop bang boom." - Little Richard
"Louie Louie, oh ah mee mah mo. I say mee mah mo mow." - The Kingsmen

Now get off my lawn! :D

I understand that if you pour kitty litter under the rear tires, you can get unstuck more easily. I don't know if that applies to being stuck in the past, but you might want to go sit in a litter box for a while to find out.

I watched the American Music Awards last week. And, from Imagine Dragons to Pitbull, I thought "what great songs". That music makes me wish I was just going into Top 40 radio today, instead of in the early 60's.

Wake up. The music today is better than ever!

Right now, there is a great selection of music on Top 40 & Country. The 90's and the start of 00' was a bad time for CHR (which opened the door for Country, and it has held on ever since). Things have turned around. there is something for everyone.

Younger and older demos are listening to both formats. Which is music to a stations ears.
