"I Will Survive" by Gloria Gaynor heard twice today on Lite at 6:03am and 2:53pm. That's music variety???? ::)

They have been repeating the same songs on weekends for much over a year now. I recall making note of my listening frustration of their small weekend play list several months ago. One weekends, they must be using some disco cassettes that were found in the floorboard of an old Camero to use for the playlist over and over again... :)

To some extent I can see the tight playlist during the workday when the masses are listening at work and in the car durning the week. Weekend listening is usually lower for A/C stations. I would think weekend listeners are more hardcore fans of the music or the station. It would seem to make more sense to broaden the playlist a little more on the weekends. They used to brag about no repeat workdays, how about no repeat weekends?

If you haven't heard "The Breeze," an AC station from South Jersey, I recommend trying it online at www.breezeradio.com. Out of all the AC's I've heard, The Breeze has the largest playlist (with both no repeat work WEEKS and no repeat weekends). Their playlist is pretty broad but relies mostly on the 70's and 80's with quite a bit of 60's, some 90's and an occaisional current or recurrent. It certainly isn't a real "mainstream" AC, but a really great station to listen to nonetheless. It's one of those stations that you'll either love or you'll hate, but I think that people reading here would enjoy it.

Thanks for the tip. I will try to remember to give "The Breeze" a try.

Radio programming has become so well researched. I wonder if when the PPM is common if they will take a song off if it shows that everyone turned off their radio when it came on....? I can see it now, nope wait everyone didn't turn off their radio a power failure knocked the station off the air!

I enjoy a broad playlist. Having working in Soft A/C I can think of quite a few songs that were hits in the '80's and '90's that never get played anymore. Okay maybe they didn't research well, I don't know. Seems like they could be put in light rotation just to keep things freash.
