Music Videos on broadcast TV

That was K61CA "TV61," which broadcast from Shaw Butte in North Phoenix. They were only on the air for about 1-1.5 years (1983-84). The frequency is now home to KASW.

The Box's over-the-air affiliate in Phoenix was K58DV/KPHZ-LP Channel 58 (now Jewelry Television KDTP-LP).

Also, as I mentioned before on one of these boards, KUSK Channel 7 in Prescott, AZ (with Channel 27 translator in Phoenix) aired blocks of "Hit Video USA" during the late-'80s.
 
NIGHT TRACKS

"Night Tracks" was a great show on WTBS-Channel 17 from Atlanta (now TBS Superstation). It aired Friday nights from 11:05 or 12:05 until early in the morning.

I loved the intro. Large turntable in outer space, the giant galactic tone arm coming down . . . weird, cheesy synthesizer music . . . it just screams 1983. For many of us who couldn't get MTV yet, that was our window on the music video world.

Promos throughout the day would tease "premiere" videos on the next show. I specifically recall many Hall and Oates debuts, maybe some Rick Springfield...but back then, I was into Weird Al Yankovic.
 
Just like "Friday Night Videos" being must-watch TV on Friday night/Saturday mornings! :)
 
WOFL aired music videos from 2000-2002 prior to it's purchase by Fox. The program was called Newsic which was music videos with news headlines on the screen, 3/4 of the screen was the headlines and weather, the other 1/4 of the screen was the music video.
