Music you broadcast that you listen to?

I play current rock alternative, Indie, 90's, 80's hits with the occasional 60's Beach Boys, surf music during the week and Doo Wop on the third Sunday of each month, although I enjoy the music I play and I believe the music is much more interesting music than anything the commercial broadcasters playing.

It sounds more like Jack FM with 80's and alternative/Indie rock.... Anybody doing this format? What do your listeners think? Everyone here likes the format and it's the only music we listen to in the house and car within range.... But then when the third Sunday comes around we all enjoy the Doo Wop, even the teenagers love it... strange!

Anyone want to brag about their music tastes and what their listeners like...

Interesting story of fans of someone who plays it

I am not a do whop fan but I use to broadcast before someone who was really big in it. I beleive his name was Ken Held here in South Florida. He ratings were high and he did alot of remote shows that attracted big crowds. He told me once that he had a fire at his home and the firemen realzied who is was they all told him they were his fans. He exclaimed that all his records were in the house...they all made sure to rescue his records. So I guess your right there is a demand for it.

Re: Interesting story of fans of someone who plays it

Hey, I live in NY, we used to have "CBS-FM 101.1 - The Greatest Hits of All Time"
and without any kindof warning, Infinity Changed it to Jack-FM. The change was so sudden that they told Mickey Dolenz that was his last show two minutes before he went off the air. It outraged many people.

I'm 29, but I was raised on the oldies and doo-wop, you'd be surprised the kind of following it has. Thankfully most people are able to pull in another Oldies station, but CBS fm was the landmark.
