MUSICBOX 1610 SIGNS ON

I'm pleased to report that Musicbox 1610 is on the air as of this afternoon.

This station is a little different from my previous WJJD 1160 station. I'm using a Rangemaster
with the whip antenna on 1610. The Rangemaster is on a temporary pole and I
put in a few radials at this location. But there are a lot of obstacles in the way.

Ultimately I will move this to a tower and get one of Carl's ground systems.

Even with this limited system, I was getting out almost 2 miles in every direction
this afternoon. The radials improved coverage to the north, east and west. There's only
pasture to the west so I didn't work on that side today.

I'm broadcasting a variety format of oldies, gold-based AC, cross country and some standards.

The WJJD classic country continues on the Internet unchanged..don't want to mess with a good thing!

Here's the Musicbox site:

Hi Allan:

I wish you well with your new venture. Hopefully this station will become another success story for part 15 AM commercial operation. More and more of these commercial part 15 statios are taking to the air and it will be interesting to see how many of them start turning a profit.
