Musicgen Lite

I've been using it for my weekly show on a local community station, however, as my old computer slowly dies away, I've upgraded to a new one, but unfortunately, Windows 8 doesn't want to play with MusicGen Lite. Just keep getting a data error. Anyone else tried to use the two together, and if so, any success?

I've had an issue with older software on 64-bit Windows systems. Windows tends to install 32-bit software in the "Program Files x86" folder instead of the regular "Program Files" folder. I got one program to work by cutting and pasting that program into the regular "Program Files" folder and running it from there.

MusicGen Lite will not play in any newer Windows OS, 32 bit or 64 bit at all. XP is it.

If you don't have Win 7 Pro or Win 8 Pro (not sure about win 8), then download VirtualBox (free) and install a virtual Windows XP (use your old license) and you can run MusicGen LIte on the Virtual XP. That is the only way today.

If you have Win 7 Pro, you can download the free Windows XP VirtualPC from Microsoft.

XP Virtual PC works awesome with MusicGen and other programs I need it for. Highly recommend it. As long as you have a decent system with lots of RAM, you won't know the difference.

Thanks. I'll have to check into that virtual PC.

My experience is much quicker with Virtual Box.

VBox is good as is VMWare. Another good option is to repurpose a retired computer for MusicGen (I have an old IBM ThinkPad for just that task).

Hi wd45
I have a copy of this software (version 02.01.0009), I have been using it for more than 2 years and it works very good along with SAM, the only issue that I have is that it is not producing me .m3u files.
What version of the program are you using? Does it produce the .m3u files? If not, what are you using to export your playlist to the automation program?
I am a registered user on this forum but I'm having problems logging in.
I will appreciate any help.
Thank you,
Juan Cedeno
