Musicradio 1300

I wonder if the KLLS day pattern would be able to skip to North Texas if it was ran at night...
If so, we have an AM stereo tuner at the full-power I would love to hear get an actual stereo signal.

At night the biggest problem would be all the other 1300's making it into North Texas. From what I remember when C-Quam was in full force, you could hear stereo audio in the background even if the station was under several others. C-Quam was a really robust system!

My biggest problem is just getting enough gain on the signal daytime, without Austin intruding. They may be farther, but they operate with more power. Didn't they used to be country?

There used to be a fantastic station broadcasting out of Mexico on 1300 that played classic rock tunes with Spanish-speaking announcers. I probably still get that same 1300, I think it flipped to a Spanish-Language based format a few years back.

I have a CQUAM in My 1988 S10 pick up, maybe I can hear You from Tomball, I remember from the 80s the CQUAM sounded very good, as good or better than stereo FM and didn't go nuts at night like AM / HD does. or course the receiver was set up to expand the band pass on CQUAM which helped on regular stations too.

The biggest problem is I don't think there are many CQUAD receivers around any more, except in classic cars and not to many of them it was a very expensive option, the only reason I have it was because it came with the package that was on a close out end of year model, and didn't add $800 or more to the price like it would have normally done. But it did sound good and a number of Houston stations used to run it.

My 1300 has been heard in OK at night... Rare but it has been heard... Tested the array Wednesday and all looked OK at full power.. Have some adjustments and wiring to finish... But without AC in the SUV I'm beat.. And headed to bed...should be back on sometime Thursday

Most HD radios do decode Cquam.. Flip L and R and still poor bandwidth..

I wouldn't define that as "decod[ing] CQuam." The radio either decodes it, or it doesn't. Flipping the left and right channels, and "poor bandwidth" (to me) indicates that it's not being decoded correctly.

The IF filter is still narrow in the analog mode of HD radios... And the I and Q decoders do try to decode HD but after 8 seconds give up and go to Cquam decoding ..no indication of it on the display but a lot of HD radios do it.. Because of the way it decodes, it flips the channels.. Not a big deal though.. Hope to have the Cquam online today.. Have to reload the music file too... Running a 4.5 HR loop right now of 70, 80 and 90s right now.

I understand this. My comment was in no way meant as criticism. I think your station featuring AM Stereo is a fabulous idea. My concern is that it should be decoded using the proper receiver, in order to reproduce the music (to the listener) at the highest fidelity. In fact, I believe you should also feature sponsor announcement (or paid spots) in stereo as well.

I was looking on the Internet while back, and found a couple of websites entirely devoted to AM Stereo.

Musicradio Double-L S is now in Cquam as of Midnight Sunday morning... Exciter needs some minor tweaking but it works!! Now to the streaming

Is it on the air now? I will be returning to Beaumont this afternoon, and will give a listen.

Uh, yes... I go to Waffle House, too.

I'm sure you do. Waffle House is one of the few businesses that will hire convicted felons. So, it stands to reason they will serve convicted felons as well.

:mad:Not sure how a thread on CQuam can degenerate into this, but to set the record straight as a retired Cop, A juvenile can not be tried for a felony in Texas, unless certified as a Adult. and tried as a adult, otherwise they are sent to a juvenile facility for a period of time and are released by the time they are 21 or before depending on the severity of the alleged offense, and Juvenile cases are sealed and any one who obtains case information from sealed files is guilty of a felony him self. and if He divulges information contained in those sealed files, another charge is added to the stack, and Judges get real POed when one of their sealed cases is leaked and un like the FCC they can and will in many cases come after You, keep rocking the boat and You will be swimming with the fish. and No, I am not Joe's Daddy and it is not My week to watch Him.

Which, by the way, I can't receive anymore. When CW first put it back on months ago I could detect traces of it in SW Houston. I don't hear it at all anymore. Perhaps the CQUAM stereo suppresses station range much in the same way the HD channels retard the coverage of FM stations????

CQuam was in use at so many stations that, were it to cause coverage issues, the fact would have not waited for over three decades for you to discover it.

The theory about HD reducing the coverage of the analog FM signal is now shared by you and Bruce. That says a lot.

The CQUAM has not been on for months, only the past few days.
