Found ANOTHER great online music source. This one re-creates the legendary sound of WLS Chicago, featuring music and
commercials from the 1970's. INCREDIBLE!!!!!!

Give this one a listen!!!!

Biondi, you found another great station!! Yeah, wish radio was still this way, but it'll never be because of higher authorities.. :( Oh well.

In the meantime, I am personally re-creating at home a couple of the huge late-summer KRTH specials from the mid 80's (minus the spots, news, PSA's and excessive DJ chatter - just the music and a couple of older jingles every hour).

Keep up the great station finds!! The way radio was and still should be!

I believe I linked you Superhits 106 out of the midwest. http://superhits106.com/
They play nothing but #1's on Thursdays, all day long.

Ahh, yes you did introduce me to SuperHits 106. However, I was unaware of their Thursday feature. I know what I'll be doing tomorrow now :)

I've stumbled on some real good stuff, if I can say so myself! I gave up "regular radio" and have (for the past month) listened exclusively through things like TuneIn and iHeartRadio. Good stuff truly is out there!

I'll be sure to share any more finds with you all!

I tried to listen and I've seldom had a site lock up my computer like this one did.

What in the heck is it trying to open up?

I had to reboot this computer, and the one I'm using to stream audio on AM1620 W Nuthin Nuthin Nuthin.

Crazy man, crazy. Someone tell me what the heck this site is running that make my computer so unpleasant.

Well I'm sorry you're having trouble! ???

They stream on TuneIn, if you have a device that has that on there. The web-page version is very simple (just a one-page thing with a short playlist, player, and a photo really), but it does automatically start playing the station - you don't tell it to play. Perhaps that's angering your computer.

I know very little about computers so I'm sorry I don't have any constructive advice for you!

I'll try again on my wife's Mac and see what happens there.

I suspect I'm not up to date on Flash stuff, etc.

Oooh, good thinking. Let me know if you get it, and what you think of the station! It sure was a crazy find!

There was a small (and I mean very small!) AM station down in northwestern Mississippi just south of Memphis which had a program that they called "8-track Thursdays" in which they played music directly from 8-track tapes! They turned off all the computers, and reverted back to playing stuff only from cart machines, turntables, etc. Not sure how you cue up an 8-track tape! I never got to listen to them; they take donations for their stream, or at least they did. Unfortunately, I cannot find their link now. Their nickname was "Q1520," if that is any help.

They may, or may not, still be on the air. They probably had (or have) financial difficulties. It was my understanding that the owner of the station was a 19-year-old whose mother helped him buy it!

You can't cue an 8-Track. You can try pulling the cartridge at the end of the song and hope for a clean beginning to the next one, but that's it.

Between crosstalk and generally poor fidelity, I'm amazed they'd do it. Cart machines, turntables...all do-able. 8-track....bad idea.

Was kinda thinking the same thing. But then again, we are given the impression here that these types of mistakes (and others) are actually what he is going for here. I suppose that he could crossfade a jingle into the beginning of a song on an 8-track, and hope that the song starts on time. Or he could ad-lib until he hears the song start, etc.

Okay, found the station. It's all still there. There is even a youtube clip in which he goes through his 8-track collection to give you an idea of what he has available for airplay there on Thursday afternoons.

I listened to this WLS recreation station for almost 2 hours the other day and was in awe of how well they've nailed the 70s sound. And then, the Van Halen version of "You Really Got Me" began to play. Serious mistake, in my book. But I've bookmarked it just the same.
;D Haha, agree, but the promos state that he's got every song to make the WLS survey in the 70's in play - so it's all fair game! I've been really getting into it. I'd love to see similar things done with other stations (I know there's some already around) but it's a neat concept.

Well, my mistake then. And for the record, it is one great sounding station, to my ears at least.

I still can't get any link to this to work.....
Eventually I get a "timed out" message in Winamp.

Indeed,i have had this in my WMP favourites and my Grace internet radio for a couple months now!!

Now if they would create one for WRX 103.7 -- IT WOULD REALLY KICK!!

WRX in 2000 had become quite insanely good!!!!!!! -- ITS SAD THEY WERE SOLD :(

Attention All:

According to the MusicRadioWLS website, the station is moving (physically, that is). Therefore, the station is off-air (with a ten-min. loop or so describing the change, in addition to some "Moving" songs). When the station returns, there could be some sister internet stations covering the 60's and the 80's.

A newer, more interactive website is also in the works.

My best to "Major Logan". This is a pretty cool concept for internet radio.

Here's the link again, describing the change:
