Must be nice to be Rich Kaminski

He's on his third vacation this year. He took an entire week off in February. He took a week off in March. Now Jack Kratoville announced that he'll be sitting in again for Kaminski all this week. No other disc jockeys to my knowledge have taken so much vacation time. Certainly not spaced so closely together. He's certainly got it made that's for sure.

I just don't understand why do pay so much attention to someone else's radio career in a negative light? Why can't their be nice things said like Rich is a perfect fit for Lite-FM, and has proven himself? Does it make people feel better to constantly be following others radio careers so intensely again like I said before in a negative light.

Personally I think Rich does a good job for being a Lite-FM DJ.

Keep in mind also that vacation time is contractually provided for at AFTRA stations. So Rich - unless he negotiated a PSC (Private Service Contract) has just as much vacation time coming to him as anyone else who's been at the station the same amount of time has. I myself, after 14 years at my gig, have qualified for 21 *work* days off a year now (which comes out to just over 4 full weeks, when you include weekends). That Rich chose to take this much this early in the year, rather than spaced farther apart as I do, is his option and shouldn't be begrudged.

Hi -

I don't know of any list per se of AFTRA shop stations. But the union has a comprehensive website at http://www.aftra.com/aftra/aftra.htm .

You can contact them from there (upper left corner of the page) and ask specifically about stations in your area, or the area you'd like to work in.

AFTRA locals are a good source of job info once you're a member, but you can also check industry sources like R&R's mag/website ( check this out: http://www.radioandrecords.com/Resources/Jobs.asp ). From there, you can contact the station directly and ask if they are an AFTRA shop.

Good luck to you!
