Mustard and Johnson..............all done??

I just read, on BSMW, that Mustard and Johnson are no longer going to be on WEEI. Is this true?

I was half listening to their sign off today, and it did sound "different" like they were saying goodbye or something...

I tuned in early and first caller I heard was the Italian? (not Frank) so I left. At about 12:30 I returned and Craig was saying that the slot was ending and he and Larry will be back occasionally, but not together. Mustard wasn't bitter but he sounded vague about prospective dates on the station for himself. He also said John Rooke(next up) was allowed to host from his living room (hey, gas is expensive), something he said, he shouldn't have mentioned.

With the newspaper guys coming over this was inevitable and truthfully I don't know how "yankee talk" lasted this long. The callers were awful and the hosts just played to the worst aspects of their personalities.

This time of year it is not unusual for M&J to go on hiatus. They will move the baseball show to Saturday's beginning next week, replacing Craig and Larry, and they will have the football show on Sunday mornings.

I can only hope that this is it for these two clowns. Mike Mutnansky has done a great job on his weekend slot. Butch has been on weekends pretty regularly, for better or worse. BC football will have a 3.5 hour window just about each Saturday from now through Thanksgiving. WEEI will air NFL games on Sundays and in about two and a half months, college basketball will pick up. The point is, weekend time slots will be harder to come by and this is as good a time as any to squeeze Mustard and Johnson out of the line up. They wouldn't be on otherwise and when the time comes where they would normally be phased back in on a regular basis, the hope is that they are not missed. I doubt they will be. ;)

The people who are always ripping Mustard and Johnson, sure do listen to them a lot.
Because they love to listen to Mustard and Johnson( Howard Stern.. Private Parts ). I like to see Mustard and Johnson get a fulltime slot on WEEI.

Isnt Mustard a full-time teacher? I really dont listen to WEEI as much as I used to but I always liked Craig. Personally I can do without LJ's religous reference every other caller.

Their callers are awful. And because they think they're slotted regulars, the show became repetitive.
You put up with a number of things at WEEI because they revolve around the Red Sox.

Larry was a no-talent, affirmative action hire. Mustard was a smarmy, condescending jerk. They attracted the dregs of callers because M&J were afraid to stand up to them. Their audience was Boston sports fans. Their menagerie of callers didn't criticize the teams, they criticized the Boston fans and M&J let them. Even Mr. Nice Guy, Dale wouldn't let them get away with crap like that.

How long would Severin be popular with his listeners if he allowed callers to call conservatives every disrespectful name in the book and didn't respond?

Mustard was in on the ground floor of sports radio. Instead of a nice ride on the gravy train, like Ordway, Dale, and D&C have had, his radio career went down the drain. He was just out of step with everyone at WEEI and couldn't disguise his contempt for his listeners and co-workers. He made it even worse with his supposed Yankee fan status and his bleeding heart liberal politics. I'm surprised they lasted this long.

they don't think it, they ARE slotted regulars.

I actually do like Craig... it's Johnson that's annoying and I stopped listening to them/him awhile ago.

LMAO at Big O today, "Mustard and LJ could always reinvent themselves as Rays' fans. That may get them their show back."
