Mustard and Johnson--Could they be gone?

John Ryder and Joe Haggerty are doing the Saturday AM show on WEEI today. The Baseball Show will be on later today. No mention of M&J. I can't imagine that those two knuckleheads both have something better to do; especially LJ who has no job.

I suppose it's too much to hope that we may get a real sports show on Saturday morning and that there might be a permanent change in the offing.

Yesterday, the folks on The Big Show were joking about how people who liked to tune in to Yankee Talk (M&J) were going to be SOL. Not sure this means the end to M&J, but hope springs eternal.

LJ wasn't being compensated by 'EEI, eh...by the way Boston Radio Watch reports that ESPN 890
has replaced the departing Dan Patrick with Mike Tirico, weekdays 1-3 pm

heard a bit of Yankees-Blue Jays game last night(WCBS) and thankfully (SORRY Yankee fans!) the Jays pulled
it out (it is high, it is far, it is (Gregg) Zaun!) In place of Suzyn "Rajah Cleminzz is comin' back to the
Yanks!" Waldman for the evening was some guy with a Noo Yawk accent and not exactly a radio
friendly voice.)

LJ is not compensated? Is that true? Or are you kidding? I agree that he shouldn't be compensated but I find it hard to believe that he isn't. Remember all of us aren't radio insiders, some of us(me) are gullible.

So I guess it IS a job for him, then...or at least he's getting something. Like
maybe a gift certificate for the Eastern Clothing Company Of Watertown,
with suits for the athletic man... ?

>>especially LJ who has no job.

That guy was back on Saturday. Knowledgable, but not radio-friendly.
Waldman was off for Yom Kippur.

I think everybody who is appears on a drive-time shift, is paid: LJ included. It was only Ted who offered "gifts" in lieu of $$$. I'm not sure about Arnold&Holley: McAdam --and others-- have paid call-in segments.

I doubt M&J are gone. They carry some syndi' FB programing as well as a game-day show (I think). That makes nyy-Talk vulnerable, considering the Bb show has to move to Sat.

If they are out they will probably return after the Bb show with Buckley and McAdam exits for '07.

And probably pretty well, since all the 'regulars' are under contract, as are folks like Schilling, Lucchino, Francona, and Brady who make regularly scheduled weekly appearances. I know that back in the late 1990s, Dan Duquette was getting $40 grand for fielding softballs rolled his way by Castig and Trup for a couple of minutes before every Sox game. The price is probably higher today, but I wouldn't be surprized if some of the big 'name' folks associated with the teams donate the money to charity, especially Schilling.

Spoil sport.

Duquette is on the Mike and Lew morning show on 1510 on occasion. And he advertises his baseball academy on there. Lots of Theo bashing and Duke sycophantry (if that's a word--if not, I just invented it ;D ) I've been listening to that since D&C got back. Or Mike and Mike.

I guess that there's a difference of opinion as to whether LJ is paid. I know that there's a guy on WTAG in Worcester who does a home improvement show on Saturdays for no pay. He's been doing it for around 15 years. It's only one hour a week and it probably helps his carpentry business.

I could see where LJ would stay on in hopes of Big Show appearances or tracing, oh I'm sorry, art opportunities. Mustard doesn't seem to be getting anything out of it. I think he realizes that his radio career is all but over, so I would think he's being paid. He's a lot brighter than LJ.
