From this month's edition of Rich Appel's e-zine "Hz So Good":
Pick to 'Click': Used to be I never had to think about where I first heard any song, the answer was always the same -- the radio. These days, though, with AOL First Listen, downloading, BET and Fuse, clubs, One Tree Hill and singing magazine inserts, just about anyplace can break a hit. I've loved Click Five's irresistible slice o'Pop "Just the Girl" all summer, but I wouldn't have heard it until just recently if I hadn't crossed the street one Saturday afternoon. To get out of a pouring rain, I ran into a deli, and that's where I first heard "Just the Girl," on a hit-based muzak service. Does this reflect badly on radio? You bet it does, since more stations should have played "Just the Girl" right out of the carton.
