MVS Radio rebrands FM Globo to simply "Globo"

A recent move by MVS Radio, FM Globo rebrands into simply "Globo." Tijuana was their first station in the network to rebrand into this name.

What's really the meaning of this anyways? Balloon? Doesn't seem to suit well for a Spanish AC station. Sounds phased out to me.

In this context it means "Globe" as in the shape of the planet Earth. Which sounds more like the name of a news or news-talk station.

I believe this is just one thing that stuck because the good names for stations in Mexico were taken.
