Has anyone here ever Dx'ed AM radio from the island of Bermuda? Being only 600 miles from much of the East Coast, it would seem that some stateside AM's might even make it there in the daytime. How about night time catches?

I posed this question before on here. From the answers I got, it seems that daytime AM is quiet. Nightime AM brings in the usual suspects (i.e. the 50kw'ers).

I know, I too thought it would be more exciting than that.

I was in Nassau, Bahamas in the 1980's. Several Miami stations come in there during the daytime including the 1KW on 1400. Yet when I was on the Florida coast, 1540 from Nassau was almost non existent. If they have a daytime DA, it sure works well...

There is a station from the Bahamas on 810 that blasts (or did as of 1997) into S. Florida.

1540 comes from Nassau, not sure of the exact power but I can pick it up weakly at my location near Daytona Beach. Used to be a protected clear channel for Bahamas. As for 810 (Freeport), I used to receive it quite well here in E. Central FL until the 810 came on the air in Orlando back in '06.

Getting back to the original topic, a couple of times in the past when I went to the Outer Banks of NC I tried and was unable to receive any MW signals from Bermuda. However, it would not surprise me that they could receive some of the 50K signals from the northeast in the daytime (such as WFAN) as some of these signals even carry all the way down the coast to NC via salt water path. A friend of mine was in a yacht race from Daytona to Bermuda a few years ago, while he is not a DX'er he said they could receive a number of stations while at sea... So, if anyone has visited Bermuda with a radio, what stations did you hear from the states, day or night??
