MY 102.5

I just listened for a little bit again and heard Bryan Adams and Men At Work.  Nothing Magic wouldn't play.

How can you say "90s to now" and play a 30+ year old song?  Makes no sense.  The imaging voice is very AAA or Modern AC'ish, but unfortunately they don't sound like they're going in either direction.

That is strange. I would hope this 80s thing is just a holiday weekend throwback (which I still don't agree with). Bryan Adams...yikes...nothing Hot about that at all. It'd be nice to have AAA or Modern AC, but if they're doing the new pitches at the same time as playing standard AC fare, there's a zero percent chance of that happening.

As for KZQ, I think I just caught a streak of more active leaning stuff. Listened earlier today and it sounded more like X as far as balance....although with a wider playlist. You can tell they're still a lot more independent with the way they mix things up. The last time I was here I don't think I heard any active leaning tracks so I was thinking it was closer to Radio 104.5's adult lean. They're more down the middle as far as alt stations. Do like the larger variety. Heard a few bands I hadn't heard before, but as far as new music, X keeps up pretty well so sure they'll play them soon enough.

I'm not hearing any 80s when I've checked today, so hopefully it was just for the weekend. I still don't like it, either.

Actually, the company that owns KZQ (NextMedia) is bigger than Summit Media, but I would guess Summit Media still has a lot of corporate-think considering the way it was structured. KZQ did used to sound a lot like Radio 104.5 but it wasn't as...mellow? Myrtle Beach doesn't have an active rock station so they might be capitalizing on the void. It would be nice if X and the whole former Cox cluster could crawl out of the corporate mold eventually, at least enough to be a little riskier, but it's no big deal as long as the stuff gets added promptly.

Back in G'ville today. Heard the liners. They're OK. Not great but they needed an imaging change 2 years ago. Still same old, same old musically.

Ironically, listening again to X, it seems more adult leaning than KZQ. My 14-year-old, who is starting to come around to alternative, said KZQ sucked because they played too much "rock" (which to him is the harder active rock). I honestly didn't think it was that bad and they did have some stuff I hadn't heard in a while as well as some new tracks that I hadn't heard, but I actually could see he difference going back to X98.5.

He should have heard KZQ a few years ago.

WMYI-FM, MY102.5: Well,...we can all remember when both MY & MAGIC were treading water, while holding each other's hand. Oh, suck-sess, and its millstone of peee-u-nee ratings, and panicky lack of billing. About as comfortable fiberglass underwear on a chaffingly Hot & Humid day(Anybody got any Gold Bond?). Most of us agreed with MY's format flip, but that ever-so fresh feeling was just overconfidence because we thought that they...had it right! Wrongo!...and easily, I remember
one of the members of...The Think Tank...stating it as..."They Botched The Flip!". So, they, Clear Channel, are still at it, and due to PRIDE,...laced with the dreaded fear of embarrassment, and the finger waggin'..."I Told You So!"...they are now covering their meadow muffin, with a doyly. We can all smell the Riff, only days away, and one has to wonder, will they purposely ankle the one directly responsible(The Botchmaster), and let it quietly fall under the "Budget Cut" header. All in, all done, and four out,...with a hidden double-Nintendo neatly planned. Liners, Promos, and other audio tinsel, can't help an absolutely Awww-ful playlist. As I sip this Apple Pie Moonshine,...Y'all Press On!

Our "90s to now" station played Journey's "Don't Stop Believing" in the lunch hour. :D

Is it just me, or is the new imaging difficult to understand? It sounds mumbled, robotic, and too fast to comprehend.

Wow. Just wow. That's sad. I think there's someone there that just doesn't want to let go of the 80s. So even after reimaging and DJ's 90s to now plugs, they still don't get it. What mess.

And I agree, the new imaging isn't that clear and really isn't all that great period. But what can you expect from this disaster of a station at this point.

They would say so if they were doing this, but I find Q-98 in Fayetteville quite listenable during lunch. If I need AC, I can't hear any music on the AM stations I like, though I could try Rush Limbaugh ...

Anyway, the classic country FM is always an option but it gets too much interference from Q98. But it's not so bad when Q98 is playing songs like "Everything She Wants" by Wham! Now if I'm going home, it usually sounds like a top 40. I don't know what makes that station hot AC but it hasn't been described as a top 40 in years.

I was looking through their playlist on the website and even saw saw they had played some slow ballads like Cyndi Lauper's "Time After Time." I'll have to listen in and hear if they're doing it this weekend. when there are stations like Magic and Chuck FM playing 80s and not doing that great, I don't see any reason to try to get a piece of that pie.

The imaging has me baffled. I never can understand much of what she's saying at the normal audio level.

Yeah, don't understand the 80s thing with other stations that cover it well. And they shouldn't be regardless (especially ballads like "Time After Time") and claiming to be 90s to now.

Looks like my 1025 is doing a "Summer fun weekend". They are mixing in new music with retro summer songs.

I think MY 102.5 is doing fine.

Why are you complaining about it's format and ratings. To me they seem fine, ever since I went to Asheville last year, they sounded better and upbeat unlike HOT 98.1, B-93.7, and STAR 104.3, but the only problem is their logo.
Here is their logo now.

Here is what their logo should look like, I know it's KPLV from LV or Sin City or whatever you call it, but it's just a concept of what it will look like.

I have been listening to 1025 frequently over the past weeks. It definitely has improved and is sounding great.

Free...Reality Check,....no charge, just the brutal truth!

MY102 is doing better, sounding better, moving forward, running for mayor.........

Yeah!....Right!

....and if frogs had wings,....they wouldn't bump their ass so hard!

...and the day the hawgs done et up Willie, Mamma died when she found out what Daddy did to Sister. Right, Clem?

Quite honestly they are sounding much better than they were a few years ago. Their transition to Hot AC was horrible, but they actually do sound like they've hit their groove. I don't know if MY or Magic will ever go back to the 5-6 share ratings they once had.

But I do feel like what MY has finally arrived at is a major improvent over the stagnant AC mix they had before the move. They may have had even better ratings than they do now if they hadn't taken a year and a half in what was the worst dragged out flip ever.
