My 1039 Dothan

Wanted to wait and make sure it wasn't just my imagination running away with me but has anyone else noticed a not so subtle shift away from the play list of My1039 to a rocker format? This afternoon heard Closer To The Heart by Rush followed by Lunatic Fringe all intro'ed by a smooth talking-been buzzed since the release of Exit Stage Left-male voice. Burn Outs unite! Next thing you know we'll hear Tangerine (living reflections from a dream, I was for love you were my queen and now a thousand years betweeeeeen) by Zepplin and Sweet Leaf (you introduced me to my mind and left me wanting you and your kind) by Black Sabbath. On Sunday night we could even get a real treat with the entire Saucer Full of Secrets LP complete with scratches.

Hey man, that's deep.

Yeah I've noticed it too. I believe (not %100 sure) that Dave Gilligan is programming the station now- or has a big role in doing so. My understanding is that he is a big Classic Rock fan..sooo..basically he's is programming the station to his satisfaction..NOT the listeners. And DON'T anybody come on here telling me how good of an idea classic rock is  It's stupid to have two stations going after..at the very most %5 of the market. Besides it's a male format..so not a big money maker. But anyway ...yeah Stew they have been playing some strange stuff.

Yeah Dave knows the real music. If he's programming the station now, then the average listener won't "get it". Dave is on a different intellectual wavelength than most, and it shows in his taste in music.

Dave is My 1039 which is sad that it has come down to being a one man band now.

Thanks Miss Goober Pollard your best production guy has now left the building to go to greener pastures.

Doug,
Thanks for listening! Come by the station and I'll get you a t-shirt! Your imgination is indeed running away from you (for good reason). No changes have been made...yet! Tell John to concentrate on his show in the mornings! If you would like to dicuss any format changes I'll be at the nutfest!

BTW how is 2 for one goin' for you and TD?

Doug? You think Stewy is Doug Wynn? I laugh at this.

But really, do you have good reason to come to that conclusion?

Well then!... maybe he is just to darn smart to be programming a radio station. Because if the listeners don't get it..then he is a failure!

Yeah..Island Boy, gotta say I don't believe you..something has changed (musically speaking) in the past couple of weeks it has seemed pretty obvious to me anyway that the station is leaning more classic rock-less pop. Just My Opinion :)

I think Stewy is Amie Pollard..Let's just say I gotta hunch..keep it on the DL ;)

God...I hope just one of you have a diary! As much as you listen (can't be working with this much extra time) My1039 will be #1!

Love y'all bunches!

Honestly no changes have been made...yet!

"If I didn't care what happened to you
and you didn't care what happened to me..too
We would zig zag our way through the boredom and pain
occassionally glancing up through the rain
and watching for pigs on the wing"

Could you play this one in the morning for me at, oh lets say 7:15?

Now, is "my 103.9" broadcasting from an old mattress studio? (re:my 107.3)
This new "my" format is the hottest thing so far. Our "my" is proud to be broadcasting out from downtown pensacola from a converted mattress factory.

I mean you boys are a tough crowd to please. First you bitch that Tragic has too many stations going after the same demo...then you bitch when Gilligan tweaks 103.9's playlist a little. Classic rock could be pulling much bigger numbers in this market, but between JB's "Deep Cuts" and 103.9's half hour 80's blocks...there's not enough there to hold the classic rock listener. It would be great to see classic rock done right again in this market.

Imean, for the record personally, I really like it! :) I do-I do, I like green eggs and ham! I them here, I like them there, I like them everywhere. I'll eat them with a fox or in a box. The deeper the cut the better for my taste!
