My 107.9

After several months I think this station is sounding much better than at first, But should this station go Rhythmic AC since it already leans in that direction? the station plays about 65% Dance and R&B from the 80s and 90s, and the rest is pop rock and AC. I think if I was Entercom i would really consider taking this station in the Rhythmic AC direction.. They just added a new Dance Mixshow on saturday night called the saturday night dance party feauring the old Club Z crew. makes you wonder if they are thinking of taking it Rhythmic AC... This format i think would do better than what they are doing,,,, as would a real oldies format, but since I can already get WCLS at my house, Rhythmic AC is my personal preference for this station. they could even keep the same name and just silently flip it to rhythmic AC without telling anyone.

Now that this board has a member who actually works there (Paper Bill), maybe he could kindly provide us with some insight as to why My 107.9?

It reminds me too much of the early *jack* ... I'm not a fan of these broad mix of everything/anything radio stations ... play something i'll listen to, or my daughter will listen to, or my dog ... but stop trying to be all things to no specific audience. or is there an actual substantial group of people that listen to anything/everything thrown at them? not being a radio guy ... maybe i just don't get it ... ???

Some consultant has advised that this "throw it all against the wall" format works well with the PPM audience measurement.

I for one love a broader mix. I despise the excessive repitition of most stations. I'd probably mix in selected country, bluegrass, Edge/80's, metal, psychadelic...

Why not just play everything, but not say that you do? Just package it it differently instead of the stupid, "we play everything" positioning.

Right, let's call it "WENS, The Hits of the 80s, 90s, and today."

Note: the WENS calls are tied up in one of the WJCF repeaters. And I don't think anyone really wants to steal the WENS branding.
