MY ADDRESS TO THE NATION.....

My address to the Nation: (famous quote by Larry Lujack before he gave an intelligent speech)

Good Morning or Afternoon (which every the case maybe in your world):

Here I am back, and I don’t why in the hell for. It seems like the world is getting a little dull, as I’m recuperating from a mild heart attack I had 3 weeks ago. Damn cholesterol medication, watch out for allergic reactions!

Anyway, just before my blow out, on a wonderful Sunday Morning, my phone just kept ringing. Come to find out it was Jack Williams at 1010 WHIN. He called to say that he hated my editorial and we had problems. Problems? What Problems Jack? It’s in your head.

You mention that I said something about the Mayor of Gallatin? Why would I do that when my format gears towards females and females are the buying power of America. Fellas, whom are married, like me, who controls the spending in your household? Yes a marriage is 50/50, but the ladies are strong in their own way and we grumpy old men like me need a strong wife to be with us in good or bad times, and manage the household.
What I was doing Mr. Williams was making a comment to the mayor that she has an invitation to this station at anytime to discuss what she wants. Is this a problem for you?

The U.S. Constitution calls for “Freedom of Speech” and I’m exercising my right as an American Citizen to do so. You have the right too. What are you jealous of? I have not anything against you, you’re a gentleman. It’s a shame your partner isn’t. I can reach out my hand, be a gentleman to him and say hello, how are you? He can not do that without using some curse word at me, and it shows me that he is not being a Christian. Maybe he needs to take lessons from you on how to be a Christian and not fight with Mr. Buntin in the Away Game Press Boxes at Gallatin Football Games. I had a talk with Bill and I expect him to be on his best behavior at all games. Jules Brazil (volunteer) was terminated by me due to he cursed me, disrespect towards WHIN and your partner, as well, caused trouble in other incidents.

Let’s face it, you know I don’t want no part of Gallatin Football, as I rather do Station Camp High, but when someone like Bill works for you, whom has done Gallatin Football for 40 years and this year being his 40th Anniversary, I want it to go well for him before he wants to retire. Once Bill hangs his hat up (at his own choosing) Gallatin Football Games will no longer be broadcasted over WMRO. Nothing against the school, but it's foolish in my opinion for 2 stations to broadcast the same game, in the same little town. I think we both agree.

Mr. Williams, you’re a nice man, but don’t call me on the phone to discuss what I have to say, post it right here on this board! I’m sure Buddy Sadler’s phone is hot right now calling you to tell you what I’ve posted. I’m not ashamed of it. I say what I feel. Oh by the way, I’m NOT your competition. The only competition you have is yourself. I go do my own “thang”, sort of speak.

For the rest of you reading this, my advice to you is competition is competition. I worked at 92Q in the late 80’s and early 90’s, 7 PM to Midnight, right up against Y-107 (now the River) and the jocks over there made fun of me, even on the air. I just got a good laugh out of it, why heck it was free promotion. Back then, 92Q and Y-107 fought all the time. My point is if someone at another station pokes fun at you or makes a statement about you in an editorial, consider it FREE promotion. It get’s you curious listeners. Learn to NOT take some aspects of this business serious and be an old fart. Learn to love and help your neighbor, and accept criticism.

Now 1 glass of Arbor Mist for everybody! Pour the bottle Tibbs!

I will not be responding to this speech, but rather go back to my world and enjoy life “Stress Free”. This board can cause one stress, now where is the bottle of Arbor Mist! :D

Reads like a Mack Truck or Earl Pitts bit, but without the humor.

Scott, don't blow another heart gasket. There are bigger battles in life than two Gallatin AM stations. Let's start with your health atop that list.

And I believe 92Q was adult urban format when 107.5 abandoned country for CHR/AC circa 1982-3. Y-107's direct competition were KX-104 and 96 KISS. I could be wrong on that one.

i admit i had wondered why scott had been so quiet of late...perhaps a double dose of the old A/M would have kept the old pipes cleaned out.. ;D get better...the board has been rather docile in your absence ::)

Perhaps I have no welcome to respond to a new entry from Mr. SCOTTWMRO, but I'm going to give it a go anyway! Scott, I hope you recover from your heart problems soon and bounce back 500%%%%. I'm in my early 40s myself so I can just imagine what health ailment is awaiting around the corner. Born (and growing up) in Lebanon I grew up loving and listening to FM as long as I can remember (WCOR, WHIN (& KX-104), WSM (am & sm-95), KDF, ROCK 106, etc.)

I wound up working at WCOR, WRKM (Carthage), WTMG (briefly, before becoming WRMX), and my favorite (WMOT-JAZZ 89) before giving up my radio heart and working at WSMV-TV for 17 years.

I applaud you for holding onto on what appears to be a dying business (AM radio).. ((don't worry it isn't dying!!!)) WMRO should be applauded for one of the few last frequencies/communities that cater (gasp!!) to its local communities with a format that isn't available anywhere else.

I, for one, am wishing that WMRO would be available (in stereo) as several high-power translators or a rinky-dink satellite channel!!!!

OOOPS..... I forgot to honor a case or two of Arbor Mist to Scott and anyone else who wants it!!!!

“Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player, that struts and frets his hour upon the stage and then is heard no more; it is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.”
William Shakespeare ???

A mild heart attack? Gosh, Scott that sounds really painful. Good...to see your up and around. Is it true what they say about those heart medicines and how they lower cholesterol and the pp?

does anyone remember the late George Carlins bit about the heart attack he had in Boston? He woke up and was told "you had a had attack" "a what?" "a had attack" "a what?" "a had attack" " a what?" " a f'ng mild cardiovascular infraction"

Scott;
Repeat after me....Serenity Now......I understand that red wine can actually be good for heart health. I hope it works for you. Get well soon and drop the radio stress ya silly type "A". This board needs you. I look forward to your posts even more now since I left Nashville. FYI I miss my Nashville friends and the pro's I worked with, but I do not miss anything about that place on Music Circle East....with the possible exception of the beautiful, smart and unflappable Sales Assistant. ;D
