"My ATL News at 10" coming

As I anticipated, WXIA will produce a 10 PM newscast for soon-to-be-sister WATL, according to the AJC's Rodney Ho.

As posted earlier, WATL will change it's on-air identity to "My ATL TV" on September 1st. No start date for the newscast (it will probably be after the deal has been approved and consumated).

I wonder if:
1. The newscast will be in HD (most likely)
2. WATL will move to the WXIA studios. Steve Carver has already left WATL to head up one of Tribune's newspapers. I am assuming Bob Walker will be dual-role WXIA/WATL GM once the deal is done.

11 alive has done this also with WPXA and WUPA

I think they were operating WPXA at the time and that was tape-delayed. The WUPA news was live and WXIA bought the time from WUPA.

I think 11ALIVE shouldn't try the 10pm newscast thing again. FOX 5 NEWS wins handsdown. If you think about it, we get enough news from all 4 stations around the clock.

5am-7am
1. Channel 2
2. FOX 5
3. 11 ALIVE

7am-9am
1. FOX 5 (GDA)

12pm-12:30pm
1. Channel 2 (12p-1p)
2. FOX 5
3. 11 ALIVE
4. CBS 46

4pm-5pm
1. CBS 46

5pm-7pm
1. Channnel 2
2. FOX 5

6pm-6:30pm
1.11 ALIVE
2. CBS 46

10pm-11pm
1. FOX 5

11pm-11:30pm
1. Channel 2
2. 11 ALIVE
3. CBS 46

WUPA came to WXIA to produce the news for them. WXIA never bought time from WUPA. I assume that WUPA being a CBS (then Viacom) O&O, they went to WGCL first, and were turned down.

WXIA was co-operating WPXA with PAX, and WPXA moved their operations to the WXIA studios.

No, I know from a source that works there that WXIA was buying the 10p-10:30p slot from WUPA. The whole show was written and produced from XIA and fibered live to UPA. Then, UPA aired the "Atlanta Tonight" show afterward. They dropped AT the same time that XIA quit the 10p news 'cause the producers for AT was wanting too much money.
