my car presets

I have six Puget Sound presets FM1 in the Forester, NWPR occupies the first 2, KUOW the 3rd. KING FM #4 KZOK the 5th. and KRQT the last one.

the FM2 slot is Portland based. #1 89.9 All Classical Portland. 91.5 KOPB and 92.3 KGON number 2 and 3 Respectively. 4th slot is 101.1 KXL, KINK is 5 and 6 belongs to KLOO

I have this arrangement as traveling up and down I-5 allows me to go to one of the presets and using the tuner as a 'VFO'. KUOW 94.9 allows me to go to 95.1 Live 95 or KJR but I find KJR not up to par, so it's not a preset. The KING FM slot allows me to tune in 98.3 the Peak in Bongview as well as KOMO FM. 107.1 KRQT can take me to KNDD using the tuning function. Again the presets are my most listened to since I like classical and classic rock and some NPR. Portland presets like 101.1 KXL also let me listen to 101.1 KGHO around here. KGON is improving their lineup some, Bill Prescott is back on the air doing mornings and they have resurrected Block Party weekends like KZOK. Both Classical stations carry Met Opera on Saturdays.

On the AM slot, #1 610 KONA Pasco, 680 KBRD Lacey is two, KOMO 1000 #3. Four is KGY Olympia 1240 although I should change that, (they stink lately) 5th is KUOW 1340, and 6 KELA Centralia 1470 which used to carry The Pet Show but now FOX Sports n the weekends so I need a new station. (KONA carries the Pet Show still and their daytime stick isn't bad) (I like having both KOMO' for traffic updates, I can get the AM side on the fringe of Portland and the FM takes over around Castle Rock, They do a good job even on weekends for traffic alerts.) But I also have 3 commercial 2 ways for listening on the amateur band and WSP so I have a heads up there. 1240 and 1470 will probably get dumped soon. I used to have KGO 810 but they dropped a lot of local hosts at night.

This is an interesting thread!

On the AM I have..
#1 KGY 1240 (listened to regularly)
#2 KKXA 1520 (listened to regularly)
#3 CKWX 1130
#4 CISL 650
#5 CKNW 980
#6 CHMJ 730

I use the FM-2 dial for Seattle radio (I don't know why, I never bothered to change it)
#1 KZOK 102.5 (listened to regularly)
#2 KMCQ 104.5
#3 KJAQ 96.5
#4 KISM 92.9
#5 KISW 99.9
#6 KJR 95.7

On the FM-1 I keep Mount Seymour signals
#1 CFMI 101.1
#2 CKKQ 100.3 (not on Seymour)
#3 KISM 92.9 (not on Seymour)
#4 CKLG 96.9
#5 CKPK 102.7
#6 CFOX 99.3

So I don't have a car, but here is what I've programmed into my G8,
1. 101.5 KPLZ.
2. 92.5 KQMV.
3. 98.9 KLCK.
4. 106.1 KBKS.
5. 93.3 KUBE.
6. 97.7 KOMO.
7. 105.3 KCMS, mainly for Christmas music.
8. 106.9 KRWM.
9. 104.1 KAFE.
10. 106.5 KWPZ again mainly for Christmas music but they've been playing some pretty good stuff lately.
11. 96.1 KXXO a family favorite when we're down south. I'm also considering adding,
12. 98.5 CIOC.
13. 102.9 KYNW. On AM here's what I've got,
1. 1000 KOMO.
2. 710 KIRO.
3. 1250 KKDZ.
4. 880 KIXI.
5. Since deleted KBRC because of the weak signal. I've also considered adding KKXA, KRKO, and KAPS.

Around 1986 to '87, I got my first radio with presets. At the time I had:
1. 99.9 KISW
2. 96.5 KXRX
3. 102.5 KZOK

That was it. I just repeated the pattern for 4, 5 and 6. A few years later, I added 6. 107.7 KNDD and maybe The Mountain at some point. Even after The X went off the air, I kept 96.5 as my preset to this day. Back then I don't think I even bothered with any AM presets except maybe 710 KIRO when it was all news.

Currently it's:
1. 99.9 KISW
2. 96.5 KJAQ
3. 102.5 KZOK
4. 92.9 KISM
5. 95.7 KJR
6. 107.7 KNDD

I don't know about you guys, but I've been wishing "The Mountain" was still on air lately. It was my #1 Preset (even after they leaned classic rock) until the day that it morphed into this CHR thing. I like listening to KGY and KKXA, but KZOK is the only radio station that attracts me to the FM radio dial at this point. KINK is a great station, but its difficult to listen to in the car without constant static interruption. Its hard for me to comprehend why KZOK doesn't take all of the KJR listeners, considering how KJR is effectively a bad carbon copy of the KZOK format. There are subtle differences, such as a much smaller playlist, and high repetition.

Although I always HATE to see a radio station to an older demographic flip formats, it would not break my heart to see KJR change. Maybe they could even pick up the AAA format! Of course, this is in my proverbial "dream world", as I don't think Clear Channel likes taking risks like that with formats that work.

Here in Yakima, I enjoy country, adult hits, oldies. So it's:
1 KDBL 92.9 The Bull
2 KRSE 105.7 Bob FM
3 KXDD 104.1
4 KORD 102.7 Pasco
5 KARY 100.9 Cherry FM
6 KIOK 94.9 The Wolf Pasco
No AM presets - our 1988 car actually sucks at AM. Hardly picks anything up and has loads of engine noise. Plus, KIT 1280 is on 99.3 so I don't need to listen to 1280 in that noisy car. At home, that's a different story.

In Seattle it was probably these:
1 KRWM 106.9
2 KJAQ 96.5
3 KMPS 94.1
4 KMCQ 104.5
5 KZOK 102.5
6 KPLZ 101.5
KWJZ was probably on there before they flipped to Modern AC as well. On AM I had KIRO, KOMO as two.
