My car radio antenna froze

nd2023

Banned
It's snowing a lot today, and my retractable car radio antenna won't go up. I can't hear Pulse (or even any NYC stations) in New Brunswick

One gallon of hot water poured onto (or into) the antenna base should get you going.
If the circuit for antenna up/down is auto, the motor may already be ruined by overcurrent.
When such retractable antennas came out in the 1950's they were manual for this exact reason.
And also because you could use use the antenna height as an RF-gain control on AM.

It's not the snowing, it's the temperature and the hardness of the ice vs. snow.

So how ARE things in my Home Town, Nick? :)

Yeh I remember my automatic car antenna getting stuck also because of the freezing weather.
