Why do you insist of having not just a dance station on a TV station signal thats very limited in more ways than one, but to revive a dead horse? Yes, Pulse 87 spoiled me, but come on. Just because CBS-FM came back doesnt mean it will happen to Pulse.

Nick...wow...You're probably the biggest dance fan that posts on this sight...how could you forget to put BOSS 97, ONE OF THE GREATEST DANCE STATIONS of all time, on 97.3.....DUDE you get a double BOOOOOOOO! ;)

Nick said:
If you noticed I based it on stations that exist or have existed in the past on the actual frequency.

Well, there was another defunct dance station in AC. Hot 106.3, but since they moved to 106.5, how bout

106.5-WBBO-Hot 106.5

Yeah and dont forget Z889 and 91.5 WDBK! That's deserves a mega boo

Yea!!! No Z889?!?! Brett (dancerevz889) and I are former PDs of 91.5 WDBK , a dance station in the mid 90s to I believe 2003...This station had a ridiculous cult-like following...with only 100 WATTS we sold out freestyle shows all across South Jersey....this was before the internet was huge for promoting and streaming online...we did this with just promoting on air BOOOOOOOOO Nick!!

Brett...how the F### could I fight for BOSS 97 and not mention our WDBK...lol

ok Nick whats your excuse for omitting Boss 97 for Espn radio on 97.3?? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ;D

Thats ashame Nick you missed a great dance station..I guess it's a doube Whammy cause you probably issed Q102 during its dance phase as well..And Q as a dance station was awesome!!! Nick did you ever hear of WDBK when it was dance?

Yeah, of course I heard about WDBK when Brett was programming it, but never had the opportunity to hear it.

I was the programmer that changed WDBK, along with Bran Grayson and Mike Gillen (Michael J former WAYV night jock) from alternative to dance(prior to changing the format Saturdays were dance specialty shows the rest of the week alternative) ...It was truly a great experience when there was NO DANCE on the radio..When I was the programmer it was heavy freestyle . The station was taken off for a few years (by the faculty) and then resurrected when Brett programmed it( I'm not sure if he was the first PD when they returned) .Bretts version of WDBK featured the trance sound of the late 90s early 2000s like CAstle In The Sky ect. The national magazine Dance Music Authority even did a feature article on WDBK..a 100 watt college station!! Brett and I have fond memories of that station. Brett and I still don't agree who's version was better and whos had better air talent...(to be honest his version ..imaging and music was better but our air talent blew his away...I'll bet he still won't admit it..lol)..Anyway just giving u a little history on WDBK...also Nick if you want some history on 97.3 there is a thread going on the New Jersey boards.

Gator, the air talent when you were there was better, but our equipment smoked yours. This was also the beginning of the station getting label support. The DMA article did wonders for us. The article was written by one of the guys that started Radio-info.com, Doug Flemming. DBK had a cult following like no other.

New Jersey/Re: My dream radio dial

Brett I totally agree with the cult comment...people still to this day stop me and ask if I was the Instigator on WDBK...I think I'm gonna write a post on DBK cause all this typing has brought back some great memories..Your Equipment was better..When I was in charge the Communications board didn't really support us and gave us a really low budget...the board you guys installed was actually purchased by our managment..the board than refused to let us use the rest of our budget to install it...the communications board made things difficult for us...
Philly is luck PPM didn't exist back then cause WDBK would have surprised some people.

For those interested I'm going to do a post on WDBK...You will be surprised to hear how much air talent came from that station...for those not interested sorry about making this thread about WDBK..I probably turned this into something that some people aren't interested in.

Honestly, there should NEVER be a dance station EVER on 87.7 again!

Let's face the reality...the signal STUNK, it was at a VERY low dial position that some car stereos couldn't tune in to. I am certainly NOT knocking Brett with what he does at Z88.9 because it is a good station, nor am I knocking Wild 102.7 either. But if a dance station similar to your "beloved Pulse 87" came back, it HAS to be above 92.1 with strong coverage.

All I'm sayin here.....

I remember the early days of Radio-Info as well as Brett's posts regarding 'DBK. Start up that thread :)

Tony below 92 is not a bad place at all and quite frankly something like Pulse, Wild or what I do can could blow up. Take a look at the ratings in Philly with 3 non-commercial stations WXPN, WRTI and WHYY. All are under 92 and do very well bringing in the revenue. WBZC is now starting to generate revenue with our 2nd car dealership group. Its all about how far your signal can go. WRTI with their network goes from scranton PA all the way into Maryland. Non-comms also can go after federal grants.
