My e-skip log from NJ 7-29-09, at least 61 stations

nd2023

Banned
I think this was one of the best e-skips in the past few years, lasted nearly 3 hours and I logged a translator and an LPTV! All the locals were unlistenable the entire opening. It was worth pulling over and sitting in a parking lot and wearing out my tuning buttons the entire opening, I'm sure that no one else sits in their parked car for hours tuning around the radio and taking notes. There are a whole lot more stations I didn't identify enough information to take notes on what I hear.

Haha, well there was actually ONE other person doing that. Sat in my car in the parking lot at work from about 7:00-8:30. I was at my office in Northern Virginia (DC metro area) and logged 11 stations. Interesting to see that your catches were mostly in the 1000-1500 mile range from Minnesota all the way down to Texas; mine were similar distance, but very tightly focused in the SD/ND/MN and Manitoba area.
you can see my list posted here http://boards.radio-info.com/smf/index.php?topic=149805.msg1263626#msg1263626

Anyway, great opening, tons of fun tracking these down; your list is amazing. Will definitely start paying more attention, hopefully won't miss the next one!

P.S. any chance your unID'd "KC92" rock could be "KX92" (KXRA Alexandria, MN/Classic Rock)? That was one of my catches.

Awesome job Nick on logging 61 stations. July 29 was good to a lot of us which keep us in the game and drives our wives nuts ;D

Very nice, Randy!

Not noticing any E-skip today. Es is mostly gone now. Only KINK Portland, OR on 101.9-regular nowadays.

Too sleepy nights to try for meteor scatter-can it happen in the middle of the day? Like 2PM Eastern Time?

I know this is a little old...but....isn't it something that people 20 miles away from your stick will call in to complain in the summertime..saying you must have a problem because they can't "get you in". This summer I'll tell them "You need to be in NJ!"

I just checked my log from that day. Yup -- there was a nice opening, indeed.

I'm a ham and made a nice handful of contacts on 144 MHz. Those openings are always fun.
