My editorial on louisville radio

Radio something we shoudl all enjoy right?Well not today in the current mcdonaldlization of radio. The suits of clear channel are the main culprits along with other accomplices!!! With there cookie cutter playlists from coast to coast. Also why have local talent when you can voicetrack a airshift in one city in the west and use it for 2 other airshifts in the east. The bottom line thats what its all about baby!!!Who cares if we put people out of work its the bottom line baby!!!Who cares if a station has been the same format for 25 years. Its ratings are off by one tenth of a point we must prevent erosion of our bottom line!!!Who cares what people think we know whats best we spend billions of dollars on research and focus groups nand we are always right!!!(Yeah whatever)My next point is the horrific state of radio in my hometown of louisville,ky.Hideous and horrific are the best words i can use to describe it.I have travelled a great deal in this country and louisville is by far one of the worst radio markets i have ever heard. There are exceptions like the mighty fine 91.9 and the highschoolers at wnas but thats about it.This town can't wait to put on the latest offering from seether or godsmack but god forbid nightmare of you or the yeah yeah yeahs or snow patrol put out a new tune the only place i can here it is at 91.9 at the bottom of the dial and not always there!!!Shame on you louisville radio.I can't leave here without mentioning that sad state of affairs we had for an 80s station.I want them to know depeche mode and the thompson twins had more than one hit each.Thank god that station went to radio hell where it belongs whereas the station q2 wqmf sister station at 105.9 from 10 years ago went to radio heaven.(I did say a few exceptions very few mind you)Kudos to otting broadcasting for that good station ;DAlso a station called she 93.1 in the late 90s i mean a commercial station that played annie defranco and the old 97s can't be all bad.Hopefully they are still playing ani in radio heaven.Don't get me started on talk radio.nothing fair and balanced about talk radio in this town.Rush,Hannity, laura ingraham, dennis prager comeone where are the al frankens,ed schultz. And don't tell me there isn't a market for it blah blah blah plenty of us peeps would listen.I we can all get whjat we want be it talk or music from an ipod or the internet but it would be nice to turn the radio on and enjoy it!!!I have nothing against people that have to wear suits for a living they shouldn't be picking out music for a radio station.

a tip for you

"spell-check". Might want to check that out, (moderator edit).

Wow...some new ideas here! I suggest you follow OldiesCat's advice. If I might offer some additional words: post again when you have a shred of radio experience. What Louisville stations have you worked at to justify slamming everyone and everything in the market? Thought so. BTW...most of the population is not made up of angry, while, male 18-somethings. You're entitled to your opinion...but... my opinion is that it's tired and basically wrong.

louisville radio

if THAT rant was your idea of fun, I'd hate to see what you're like when you're pissed. It was critical and mean-spirited and not very fair to the radio people in Louisville, which is generally considered a much better radio market than its size might indicate. There's a lot of heritage there, especially WHAS, which continues to be one of the truly great full-service stations in the country.

Okay the good stuff about louisville radio we have some really good on air talent here in my opinion i think scott mullins that use to be at wfpk was awesome along with both ben davis and mike shannon of wdjx and also tommy lee of the max is really good and tony and dwight on the fox i think are pretty funny.Mcgregor who use to do the morning show at wlrs was very witty and enjoyable. Also craven on the fox.Again guys i know radio can be very stressful i didn't mean anything personal.I wish i hadn't written it now
