My Idea for a new 104.7

In the Board "Today's K104.7", I created an insane idea. Relaunch K104.7 as "Oldies"/Classic Hits K105.

IF I May Elaborate....

Music would span from 1967-1989, with occasional earlier 60s songs. Songs would blend into each other.

Jingles would be a conglomerate of JAM Jingles, with an emphasis on "New York's Jammin Oldies" and whatever jingles WJMK 104.3 Chicago uses.

Lineup:

5-10; Tony Hays (Formerly at WLYT) and Todd Baker or Todd and Guenn
10-2: Brenda Matthews (Currently at 104.7)
2-7: Brendon Chase
7-12: Kate Hall
12-5: Guenn or Tony Hays

Made sure that no DJs were fired.

What do you think? Does it need work.

Love it..... I think that a slight variation from that, variety hits, would do well. Take a few moments to listen to this: wmmo.com

This is WMMO-FM 98.9 in Orlando. They do great with that format and pioneered it too. They play mostly Soft AC hits from 60s-70s-80s with a few current artists as well like Kings of Leon and Switchfoot.

I heard the station in Orlando and it sounds really good to me. Has anyone suggested this to J. Reynolds? Any way to get him to switch this really bad format that is going on now?

Yes, I have listened to WMMO. Thank you for the link.

Can I Talk about why K105 Classic Hits would work? It would retain some of the audience from the old format (with the older music currently on the list and retaining the K name), while gaining an audience that is not satisfied with WRFX and John Boy and Billy. It could also work in that one can promote it as "WE KNOW what is going on in the Queen City!" ;)

Great Idea. Bring the K-Hits Chicago brand to Charlotte. It would do well. Leave Lite 102.9 as the Premiere Adult AC station.
To bad Charlotte does not have so much to talk about in the local professional sporting world, I would select sports as the next format but it won't do well.

With the way 104.7 changes almost every week lately, I wouldn't be surprised if it changes soon. I'd venture to guess that CBS isn't happy with the performance of the station (the numbers look OK to me) by the way they keep changing it.

Good points on K-104! Would CBS change the format? They certainly have the experience in "Classic Hits/Oldies" format and are hugely successful in New York, Chicago, LA and a few other cities where they have the format. Seems to me at some point in time somebody will make that switch and become the talk of the town. Could you imagine a "new" Big Ways in Charlotte?

That would be great! I have fond memories of Charlotte Radio 1970-1973 era. Big WAYS 61, and even their competitor, "The Big 1240 WIST". My '63 Rambler's radio had presets for both.
