My KRNB is back!!!!!

For now.....

They are sounding like the KRNB from 2001. I am hearing new r&b, neo-soul, and 90's r&b. This time around, I'm going to aircheck the hell out of this station before they go back to that dull-a$$ old school again. So I'm going to enjoy this while it last.....

Do you think Shay Moore will get the PD nod...or will they hire someone else. I have not listened to them in a while...I have a hard time getting them out in Desoto.

If Shay Moore is responsible for this new sound, she definately get my vote!

Whatever they do, they need to stick with it and try to build an audience. A little consistency goes a long way in Radio. And, with that signal, they really need to stay the course for awhile. Great radio stations aren't made overnight. You have to work at it.

Charles, really?

There is clearly a difference. The tagline blows, but the music they are pushing is great. Buc is right... just like the days of old. They are hitting old school classics and some of the new sound. But here's the catch, they can ALL sing.

It has to be Shay. She is a stickler for true vocals.

Couldn't have said it better myself!

Bite your tongue!!!!!! Let 94.5 go smooth jazz. They are the ones that suck!

They both don't ahve the signals to be smooth or any kind of jazz. That great music would be wasted on 94.5 or 105.7

Is 94.5 still upgrading?

Sort of. We talked about that last September when KSOC applied for an on-channel booster: www.radio-info.com/smf/index.php/topic,47136.0.html But again, it's not really an "upgrade" in the usual sense; they're not moving to another tower or increasing their power or their antenna height. The on-channel booster (near Lewisville) may improve the penetration of the signal in some problems areas, but it will not extend the range of 94.5 beyond its current contour. The booster application was approved, and fairly soon we'll see if it works...or if it causes unwanted problems with the main signal.

But back on topic, I believe the changes at KRNB are probably a good move for them. Personally, though, I'd like to see a return of Smooth Jazz (updated for 2007) with a "blues" feel to it somewhere on the dial (like 93.3, whose signal would be a good fit). With no Michael McDonald and no Kenny G. So there.

True Urban AC is fledgling out here.

KSOC has a POOR signal as you cross I-20 at night. Isn't that usually the "Get your groove on... quiet storm" time? You would think they would want to fix that.

KRNB, as Buc as alluded to, is indeed back... but like its competition, it seems only during the day. Even the SO-FAKE-CHECK OUT MY MOUTHWASH VOICE of Chavis can't even make it to the southern parts of Tarrant County.

KOAI. Shouldn't we all just give up hope, buy the stupid HD radio and check them out that way, while we all sing, "The Way We Were"? <<SIGH>>. Salem is right. It would be a waste of air and power to throw that music on a crappy signal. Shoot, WRR comes in more clear than that.

Keep talking. I totally agree with what you are saying!

Man! KRNB is just sounding better and better. Despite Chavis, "The Quietstorm" sounds soooo good. I'm just vibing to this station now. This is the kind of urban ac that I've been wishing for!

OK, so why would KRNB sponsor some late-night music video show called "Smooth Jazz" on Channel 21? Their logo appeared in the lower corner for the entire program. Strange for a station that doesn't even carry such a format.

Mike, just a theory.

When KOAI was in its prime, they launched "Smooth Jazz TV" and often trotted out the KERA-rejected and oddly named, Rick Vanderslice. That said, they promoted the mess out of it. But what does "Smooth Jazz" and "Grown & Sexy" have in common? Demography. Maybe, KRNB jsut saw an opportunity to keep a show in town that their listeners can enjoy as well?

Isn't that largely was Skip CHEAT-em did with FLAVA TV? That was Russ Parr's show. KKDA had nothing to do with that show until Russ hit the big time with the Radio ONE express in DC.

it looks like its marketing to me. Just trying to help out KRNB. Lets face it, K104 does no marketing at all and they remain top 5 12+.

Thank God for PrimeTime, his flashy Apricot suits and "Carmax for the hood." Skip would never be seen on TV otherwise. ;)

I agree with u. I got so tired of Skip saying "yo" throughout the entire commercial. At least Deon has some experience with television. I like Skip, but he is no television personality.

I have to tone down th color setting on my tv when that spot is on,his suit just flares up.
