My interest in radio began when I was four or five. I became obsessed with where it was coming from and it began a lifelong (I’m in my 50’s now) curiosity about broadcast towers. I really don’t listen to a station without knowing where the tower is. My favorite hikes usually include one. I like the scientific aspects but visual appeal is what got me into it. I live in the far fringes of the Empire State Building signals (Hudson Valley near Poughkeepsie) and can listen to 92.3 WINS or Q104.3 and even WNYC with my small antenna on the roof. I’m not in the business. I was a huge fan of WCBS 880 and miss it while understanding that radio is a declining industry and that my personal nostalgia isn’t enough to make an institution last. I’m a lurker on this site almost daily. Lack of knowledge prevents me from joining in a good debate but I feel like I know a lot more about the industry. Thanks!
